Three Weddings From all over, one at the Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach, one at the Athenaeum in Pasadena, and one at Los Willows Private Estate in San Diego

Robert, Trina and I had very little time to get to know each other. So I immediately set up a time to discuss what exactly what they wanted for their ceremony. They both reside in Houston, TX, so as a fellow Texan we all got along so well. As we started the planning process, the news came of Hurricane Harvey. It was set to hit Houston hard, and bring devastating flooding. I only imagined what this couple went through. They were worried for their homes and their personal safety, and the safety of their friends and family. I did whatever I could to bring them some peace and comfort during this insanely challenging time for them. To say they handled it well is an understatement. They were troopers, they never let the situation get the best of them. They stood strong. I was truly blessed to get to know them and celebrate this very special day with them, to find such a beautiful bright sunbeam in the midst of all the devastating natural disaster.

Day of Coordinator – Jennifer Cooper

Shade Hotel, Manhattan Beach

The date: Oct. 14, 2017. The place: The Athenaeum, Pasadena. Christina & Ryan were married by Rev. Ralph under the large Jacaranda tree on the beautiful grounds adjacent to the California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech). It was a beautiful warm day, but comfortable in the shade. Wedding coordinator Samantha Sisk or La Bella Dia events had everything under control. A talented string quartet provided a romantic mood, and the proverbial knot was tied in joyous fashion!

It was a real pleasure for me to be invited to celebrate this weekend with Maria Alindogan and Jeff Rivera who got married at Los Willows Private Estate in the rolling hills of northern San Diego County.  This beautiful young couple and their dog Charlie (the ring bearer) welcomed family and friends from near and far to celebrate their special day with them.

The venue is among the most beautiful I have ever visited.  With a private lake, outside seating with gas fire pits, a beautiful covered pavilion, and a shady meadow, the setting was ideal for a late fall wedding as the sun dipped behind the hills and cool shadow enveloped the small valley.

This lovely couple choose to celebrate an abbreviated version of the Catholic Rite of Marriage Outside of Mass.  In addition to using the traditional vows of the Church, the couple wrote vows to one another which, once recited, left not a dry eye in the house.  I really enjoyed meeting this couple’s families and friends who were welcoming, kind, and eager to show their love and support for Maria and Jeff as they declared “themselves to be a family before their families, friends, and God.”  May they have a long and happy life together!

Check out these three awesome weddings our Great Officiant Wesley performed

Joe and Olivia wanted to incorporate all of their individual customs, heritage, and family into their ceremony. And their love of disco music. They decided to have a tradition Filipino Ceremony including a veil, cord, and coin tradition. Since this wasn’t the very first marriage for either and they each had 3 children, some in their early 20’s, they wanted the children to feel united among this new family. We did a beautiful Family Sand Ceremony with 8 different colors! The most special part of their Wedding was Olivia’s son who is currently serving our country in the military was able to fly in and walk his mother down the aisle.

I was lucky enough to meet Javier and Brigitte a few months ago when I officiated a family member’s ceremony. We hit if off and I  knew we were going to have fun planning their special day and make it memorable. Their love for each other was so apparent, they had trouble getting through their vows without crying. And since they both love Game of Thrones, I couldn’t help but talk about their love being stronger than Fire and Ice. We also did a lovely Family Unity ceremony with their lovely little girl, Lynnie Poo, the Poodle. Perhaps my favorite pun of any wedding so far, they were pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Diaz and at the head table, they had written, “For the rest of our Diaz”.

Albert and Dana were wed in the comforts of their own backyard. With a lovely pool on a bright, sunny day, it almost felt like a destination wedding! They had close friends and family there to support them, and their dogs were playfully running around, enjoying the festivities. Once they walked down the aisle as Husband and Wife, they wasted no time celebrating with their friends and family!

Wesley had three awesome weddings at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs, Calamigos Equestrian in Burbank, and the San Dimas Golf Course

Tim and Stephanie were wed at the infamous Ace Hotel in Palm Spriings. Tim had friends and family fly in from England, while Stephanie had all her friends and family fly in from New York, where this couple met. Needless to say, it was a classy affair. New York is where they both discovered and realized their love for Habañero Margaritas. It’s also the city they love, and where they reside. The whole event was stylish, and even a bit Hipster-ish. All they needed was a live performance from the Killers.

Wedding Planner – Nicole Alexandra Gillis – Nicole Alexandra Events

Kaleena and Mike were united at the beautiful and unique Calamigos Equestrian in Burbank. Even though they were young, they have  devoted and developed their relationship over 5 years of being together. They also both have a love and respect for each other’s cultures, as we had a Lasso Ceremony celebrated in Mexican Culture for Kaleena, and an Irish prayer at the end for Mike. It was a beautiful union of two souls!

So Janette and Eddie, aka Her Worshipfulness and the Scoundrel, love Star Wars. So we definitely mentioned the Death Star destroying anyone who objected to their wedding. They also wanted their two cats, Wilson and Dexter to feel included so we did a short Family Unity ceremony with them as well! Janette and Eddie love each other so much, and could just be themselves with each other. It also showed in the way Eddie proposed to her. They took a helicopter to the top of a Glacier in Alaska! It was lighthearted and fun at the San Dimas Golf Course, and I am sure they will not witness such a unique ceremony for some time to come!

Sonia and Gerzon were wed at the Laguna Beach Hotel, right on the beach

Sonia and Gerzon were wed at the Laguna Beach Hotel, right on the beach on Friday, July 7th. There was a giddiness in the air, everyone nervous and excited before we began. While conversing with Sonia in the bridal suite before we began, she explained she wanted to show me something very special attached to her bouquet of flowers. You see, Sonia had told me about a month ago that her father had passed unexpectedly just a month prior, so she knew her wedding day was going to be an emotional one. There, hanging from her bouquet was a charm with a picture of her father inside, and on the back the words “Walk with me, Daddy.” Sonia knew as her two uncles escorted her down the aisle, her father also walked beside her. And was celebrating alongside everyone else at the love and unity of this blessed couple.

You may say that the union of Mandy and Kristie was an insane one, but I mean that in the best way possible. They are insanely in love, bubbly, and the most lovely couple.

“There is, incidentally, no way of talking about cats that enables one to come off as a sane person.”

You may say that the union of Mandy and Kristie was an insane one, but I mean that in the best way possible. They are insanely in love, bubbly, and the most lovely couple. And they have a deep love of their cats, Guinness and Winston. Even though apparently their cats always love Mandy more. They have a bunch of these little quirks and adorable pet peeves with each other, but they also ground each other. They help each other and they compromise. It’s the exact type of real relationship that is an example to all of us, showing us what it is really like to be in love. Oh, and they love board games! So much so, they built a lovely scrabble game as apart of their wedding ceremony. They had glued down words that meant a lot to them or described their relationship. As we approached the “I Do’s” of the ceremony, they each glued down the tiles I DO onto the board as the final step. Showing the commitment and devotion they have for each other, but always with a hint of fun and silliness.

The Marriage of a Bear and a Pineapple

I first met Victoria and Thomas at a surprise wedding involving Thomas’ brother, and had the honor of being asked to officiate their wedding the following year. Over that time I got to know Victoria and Thomas and watch their relationship grow even stronger before their Big Day. They have the same Spotify playlists, they love going on adventures together and call each other their adventuremate, Thomas is her Bear and she is his Pineapple. They also had children united because of this marriage, their three dogs. After the wedding, they looked forward to sharing a loving home together somewhere in the countryside, a Bear, a Pineapple, and their three dogs.

Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay

Jaden and Quesia are starting out on a fresh, brand new adventure together as newlyweds as they were wed at the Reef in Long Beach with a beautiful view of the Bay. Even though they are in their early 20’s, they knew they wanted each other and no one else to grow old with. There was many advice from their parents and relatives to wait and make sure, but anyone watching had no doubt they were sure. Jaden told me before the ceremony to just make sure everything was right for his bride, that’s all he cared about. So he’s already ahead of the game. His mother also commented after the wedding, “I am losing my son, the apple of my eye! But he couldn’t have chosen anyone better than Quesia”.
