Wedding Day at The Seventh Ray

While driving 5 miles per hour on Topanga Canyon, I finally arrived at the legendary, Inn at the Seventh Ray for Gaby and Alfie’s intimate wedding. Gabi and Alfie met in France and came back to the US for their wedding.  While not religious, the couple are very connected to the planet and gain deep spiritual connection to it and helping maintaining and cleaning up our environment.  Even the rings that Alfie designed were purposely produced in the most sustainable way, with low impact on the earth.

Simply magical.  Mozel Tov to the lovely couple.

As I reached for my cell phone, noticing the call was from Alan Katz and Great Officiants, I knew there was a Jewish or Interfaith couple needing a rabbi.  It was Alan but to my surprise, he wanted to know if I was available in five days for the wedding.  I was and took down the information and within 20 minutes fell in love this couple and took away a tremendous amount of stress.
It was at the last minute, their original rabbi took ill and had to bail.  Apparently, he didn’t have a network of rabbis to rely on in such a situation.  It was fortuitous that Juan and Alexia called Great Officiants.  Within minutes, their problem for finding an Interfaith Rabbi was solved.
Alexia and Juan’s venue was, Inn at the 7th Ray in Topanga Canyon.  And as the 20 guests were arriving, I had a chance to meet the family and get a feel that this was a fun loving group.  Being the location, the guests’ love for the couple or any number of idyllic reasons, the ceremony was fun, tender and filled with a message of how to succeed in in marriage in today’s crazy world.
In the ceremony, we combined Mexican Catholic and Jewish Traditions.  Best of all was the Benediction, where the couple was wrapped in a tallit as well as having their godparents place the Lasso around their shoulders at the same time.  Both traditions represent the bond that unites the two of them, Soul.
Over all, no one would have known that I didn’t know them but for a few days.  And that’s the way it should always be.Share This Post:

True Love Is Alive & Well In The Land!

Last Saturday, our Great Officiant Pris Munson presided over the “spiritual wedding” of Jim & Kat deep in the Topanga Canyon, at the horticultural haven known as The Mountain Mermaid.

With guests having come from all over the world — from Tokyo, Shangahi, Singapore, Australia, Germany and the US — to witness and revel in the celebration of their mystical union, an energy of inclusion, enchantment, artistry and nature was undeniably palpable.

What made this wedding particularly unique, was that moments into the ceremony, the bride nearly fainted from the combination of excitement, heat, being several months into the pregnancy of their first child.

So as the bride and groom were quickly seated, it became visually apparent to all that Jim & Kat were a gorgeous “King and Queen,” being anointed by the sentiments and concepts that had been so carefully chosen to honor themselves and their marriage.

His best man and their good friend, bestowed a musical blessing upon them, from below the grassy landing on which they were seated.

And when it came time for each to share their secret personal vows, we all received the gift of their declarations in such an intimate way, as if witnessing their exchange in the privacy of their own home garden.

And to top it off, hummingbirds and butterflies flitted by, and peacocks echoed their wholehearted congratulations with their raucous songs right at the perfect times throughout the ceremony.

There was indeed, an air of magic afoot, synchronicities abound, and true love alive and well in the land!
