Karla & Fabby got married on August 30, 2014 at the Long Beach Lighthouse. We did our Catholic Lite ceremony in Spanish, and I added the Lasso & Arras to keep alive their culture, and mine.

Language is Never a Barrier Where There is Love

Eva was able to use her gift of being a bi-lingual Spanish/English speaker at a recent wedding at Our Cute Little Wedding Chapel. The groom spoke very little Spanish, the bride from Colombia,no English. I performed the ceremony in both languages. The groom said, he would try to say his vows in Spanish, which we tried a couple of sentences, then I decided he should know what he is promising right? so he finished his vows in English, you could tell he was so thankful he wouldn’t have to continue trying to speak Spanish! The groom also presented the bride’s son, a two year old with a beautiful ring and that was very touching. All three participated in the sand ceremony, the bride and groom placing the sand in the middle container and bride’s son “Miguel Angle” playing with the tops of the containers. I am sure some beautiful pictures and video were created from this fun and romantic ceremony. I got an “AMEN” after I read Corinthians, so I believe a good time was had by all. At the end of the ceremony the couple was congratulated by their family and friends and then the photographer escorted them outside for more picture taking! A great ceremony!

Great Officiant Michael’s Rancho Cordillera Del Norte Wedding- With Photo Bomber!

Patty & Ray

patricia and ray_2

Married at Rancho Cordillera Del Norte– Northridge on June 21, 2014

Patty and Ray had a unique, first-time-for-me, request – could I do some of their ceremony in both English and Spanish?  You bet I can!

They chose a few sections of their ceremony that they wanted to be bi-lingual and I was happy to oblige, speaking first in English and then repeating that section again in Spanish.  We had a great time crafting their ceremony with many unique elements – their customized love story, a Lasso ceremony which we combined with a Hand Blessing, and finally and exchange of Arras or coins.

They topped it off with their son, Little Ray, delivering the wedding rings secret agent style in a metallic case he was protecting.

Thank you so much Patty and Ray – it was a blast and an honor!

Beautiful Bilingual Wedding Ceremony by Octavio

John & Edgar

photo

Octavio performed an incredible ceremony on November 29, 2013 for John and Edgar.

This was one of my fully bilingual scripts where I address one person in English and the other in Spanish switching back and forth through the entire ceremony.  John was very involved with me in designing the ceremony and had a great idea.  Because they are a same sex couple who have been through many obstacles he really wanted me to read an excerpt from the Judge Vaughn Walker ruling which was the first judge to overturn proposition 8.

We added that to the beginning of the ceremony as well as some jokes throughout to make the guests laugh.  This ceremony was a major hit!  Switching from English to Spanish always gets great reactions from the guests but by adding details, John made it 10 times more special.

The ceremony was held at John’s sister’s house with all the friends and family in the beautiful backyard.  I had the opportunity to talk to John’s mom and some family members before the ceremony.  Wonderful people!!!

John and Edgar are very lucky to have each other and to have all the love and support from the extraordinary family and friends, some who came from very far away just for their wedding.

Congratulations on your wedding John and Edgar!

Great Officiant Octavio Shares Burger and Fries with Couple before Ceremony – Jamie & Greg

Jamie & Greg
What a delightful couple!  Jamie, Greg, and I met for lunch at The Counter Burger so they could get to know me and ask me all the questions they had.  I usually do this with my couples over the phone unless they live close enough.  We ended up telling each others’ life stories and their love story.  They are so in love!  I could just feel it and see it.  We definitely had an amazing bonding experience over burgers and parmesan fries!

They told me they wanted a Bilingual ceremony, so I went home and got to work.  During the ceremony, when I was addressing Jamie, I spoke English, and when addressing Greg, I spoke in Spanish.  They absolutely loved the idea and decided to add some words of their own to the vows.

The wedding guests were definitely not expecting the switch from English to Spanish, and loved it!  Jamie and Greg’s families were so beautiful and sweet.  They truly made me feel as part of their own.

Jamie and Greg decided to go to my country, Puerto Rico, for their Honeymoon, and I sent them a list of all my favorite things to do down there.  I can’t wait to hear how it went!!

This was an experience I will never forget!

Four Wonderful Weddings From Octavio, a Great Officiant!

Kyle & Jennifer

Kyle and Jennifer

Kyle & Jen are a spectacular couple, and the proud parents of an adorable little angel.  We met at a Starbucks so that they could get to know me a bit and decide if they wanted to book me as their Officiant.  This is something I do with most couples so they feel comfortable with who I am.

This wedding ceremony took place in a beautiful Malibu Estate!  The chairs and altar were set up poolside overlooking the ocean.  The weather couldn’t have been more perfect.

I walked down the isle first and took my position.  Then Kyle came down with his Mom and his Stepmom, bridesmaids and grooms men, then the beautiful Bride with her incredibly cool dad (who I had the chance to joke around with before the wedding).

This ceremony was magical as well as everyone there!  It is such a gift to be able to participate in a couple’s special day.  Each wedding is a reminder of why I chose to become an Officiant.

Juan & Mandi

Juan and Mandi

Juan and Mandi had an Officiant already booked but unfortunately due to a last minute change, he cancelled just a few days before their wedding.  Luckily they were referred to Great Officiants who of course saved the day, as we always do, and with great pleasure!

I received a call from one of our representatives a couple of days before asking if I could officiate their wedding and my eyes lit up!  “Of course!” I said.  Because it was so close to the wedding, we didn’t have a chance to meet in person.  We emailed back and forth so that I could find out what type of ceremony they wanted, etc.

The wedding took place at Orange County Mining Co., a beautiful venue located on a hill overlooking part of Orange County.  Juan and Mandi looked amazing and were so grateful that I came to officiate their wedding.  Mandi had a bun in the oven so I was super impressed with how grounded and calm she was through the entire ceremony.  Juan had the energy of an angel.  I’m truly grateful to have met them and have been a part of their wedding.

Shout out to Mandi’s mom, who was the sweetest person ever, her dad, and her stepfather!  And of course Juan’s mother, who also embraced me with her angelical energy, obviously who Juan got his from.

Julio & Ana

Julio and Ana

Julio contacted me a couple of weeks before his wedding.  We discussed some details and he decided to book me.  We didn’t meet up before the wedding because they were busy with work and all the other preparations as the couple took on the great task of planning their own wedding without a wedding planner.  Something not everyone can do but they excelled at it!

The wedding took place outside Khoury’s Restaurant in Long Beach, overlooking the ocean.  I had the pleasure of helping them with the order each would walk down the isle and where to stand, avoiding Julio from seeing Ana before the wedding.  The ceremony was in Spanish so that everyone would understand all of it.  It was a very sunny day, with no wind which made the perfect setting for an outdoor wedding.  Julio and Ana were the stars and did a wonderful job!  Needless to say they both looked stunning!

Thank you both for choosing me to be a part of one of the best days of your life!!!!!!

Julian & Iris

Julian and Iris

Julian, Iris, and I started working together via email a couple of weeks before their wedding.  We discussed all the details of what they wanted for their ceremony and everything came out spectacular.  We decided we would do the entire ceremony in Spanish.

This wedding was extra special for me.  For some reason, when I arrived to their home I felt like I was visiting my family back in Puerto Rico.  I felt very warm and welcomed.  Not to say I never have, but there was certainly something special in the air at this wedding.  The setting was beautifully done!

We started the ceremony and I could see the tears running down Iris cheeks.  Tears of joy and love.  It was such a heartfelt experience for me.  Julian was extraordinary as well.  I will never forget them.

Julian and Iris, blessings to you both and the best of luck always.  Thank you so much for giving me the gift of officiating your wedding!!!!!!

I Now Pronounce You Man & Wife… In Russian and Spanish !

Roger had a doozy of a wedding at the Maya Hotel in beautiful Long Beach. A fabulous sunset wedding and reception that stood out for its international flair. The ceremony went off without a hitch, even with Roger speaking three languages! With a Russian bride and a groom from Spain, what else was he to do? He gave the entire ceremony that multi-cultural feel the couple wished for so the family members attending who didn’t speak English could hear the pronouncement in their native tongue. At Great Officiants, ask and you shall receive…and that’s just exactly what Roger gave them!! A fantastic and fun-filled wedding!
