Equinox Wedding Ceremony

Image

Alan and Alexis chose to have their wedding on 9-22-19 the day of the equinox where the day and night are equal and fall begins. The chose to do it under a cool tree in San Pedro.

We incorporated many things into their ceremony to make it amazing.

I burned some sage to cleanse the ceremony area.

I then invoked a special Blessing of the Four Directions. Every time i spoke the name of the direction their daughter clanged my Singing bowl.

Here is the text for their ceremony for the 4 directions:

Oh Great Spirit of the North, we come to you and ask for the strength and the power to bear what is cold and harsh in life. Whatever is cold and uncertain in our life, we ask you to give us the strength to bear it. Do not let the winter blow us away. Oh Spirit of Life and Spirit of the North, we ask you for strength and for warmth.

Oh Great Spirit of the East, we turn to you where the sun comes up, from where the power of light and refreshment come.Everything that is born comes up in this direction the birth of babies, the birth of the puppies, the birth of ideas and the birth of friendship. Let there be the light. Oh Spirit of the East, let the color of fresh rising in our life be glory to you.

Oh Great Spirit of the South, spirit of all that is warm and gentle and refreshing, we ask you to give us this spirit of growth, of fertility, of gentleness. Caress us with a cool breeze when the days are hot.Give us seeds that the flowers, trees and fruits of the earth may grow. Give us the warmth of good friendships. Oh Spirit of the South, send the warmth and the growth of your blessings.

Oh Great Spirit of the West, where the sun goes down each day to come up the next, we turn to you in praise of sunsets and in thanksgiving for changes. You are the great colored sunset of the red west, which illuminates us. You are the powerful cycle, which pulls us to transformation. We ask for the blessings of the sunset. Keep us open to life’s changes.

Equinox Element Wreath

Then we did the Equinox Element Wreath:

We would like to acknowledge consciously choosing this window of time as being particularly special for our couple in our use of our Equinox Element Wreath. The Equinox in itself is a time of year meaningful for some significant themes for our couple. These are:

Balance- an Equinox is the balance of the hours of day and night. Daylight and the sun symbolize male energy, along with the elements of Air and Fire. It also, on a Star of David is represented by the Up-3-Pointed triangle as we have here. Night and the Moon represent Female energy as well as the elements of Earth and Water. It is the Down- 3-pointed triangle. The merging of these 2 triangles creates a Balanced whole in Nature -much like that Alexis and Alan seek to create not only within themselves as individuals, but together in Partnership in their Union. It is by these parallel lines inside their Star that represent their Life Journey together.

Their Star was constructed from local driftwood, olive trees and sage from walks on cherished trails by oceans, walks with BuddyDog and many explored hills.

Kisssssss
The Kiss

And then of course the magical kiss.

It was an amazing moment for both me and them.

A Loving and Romantic Wedding…….except for the handshake……

Roger had the pleasure of officiating the wedding of Jason & Katherine this last weekend at the wonderful L.A. Harbor Masonic Lodge overlooking the beautiful bay of San Pedro. This was one of those picture perfect days for a wedding.  Jason & Katherine had picked a beautiful day for a wedding, the location was great, the DJ Jonathan was fantastic and Roger’s ceremony was spot on……….. It truly was a loving and romantic wedding….except for one little thing that the crowd noticed and got a kick out of…..When Katherine walked up the aisle with her godfather who was giving her away, Jason stepped down and hugged the godfather and then turned to Katherine, his wife to be and SHOOK HER HAND !!  And the entire audience chuckled but he didn’t even realize he did it till after the wedding.  Roger wanted so much to include that mishap at the end of the wedding with “I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may now shake hands with your bride”, but decided better to stick with the kiss !!Share This Post:

Greg wrote a custom ceremony for this wonderful couple

Officiant Greg had the honor of marrying Marco and Leslie Savato on September 20th, 2014 at the beautiful and historic Fort Mc Arthur Air Force Base in San Pedro, California.  The weather was spectacular and thankfully much cooler as the heat (and humidity) experienced earlier in the week had finally broken.

The ceremony facility as well as the view of the Pacific Ocean was gorgeous.

Equally gorgeous was the bride and groom.   Leslie's wedding dress was absolutely stunning and Marco's tuxedo was sleek with an "retro" style.

Their customized ceremony, written by Officiant Greg as part of the Greatest Package, had the bride, groom, friends, family, loved ones and

attendees both laughing and crying at the same time.  Everyone had a wonderful time.

Many thanks to Suzie the wedding director at the Fort Mc Arthur facility for her help and fine service, and to Antonio the very professional DJ

And to Wynter and Bobbie at wantphotography.com.

A Classic Wedding and a Runaway Best Man?

A Runaway Best Man ???

Roger married a really great couple Alex & Veronica this last Saturday at the Ports O Call Restaurant overlooking the water in San Pedro.

It was a picture perfect day.  The only problem was that the best man was a no-show…… He was Alex’s best friend and Alex was concerned because this would never happen on a day like his wedding day ! So just before the wedding started, Alex was visibly distraught so Roger and him took a walk and chatted about what was important that day and the everything would turn out fine in the end.  And sure enough, the Best Man made it….. late, but he made it and the day finished on a high note!!!

A Classic Wedding And A Classic Pose…….

Roger’s couple Alex & Bertha that got married on the beach of Santa Monica this last weekend had the classic wedding.  A beautiful beach wedding set up by Beth at Lei Of Love with a small, intimate gathering of friends and family.

alex and bertha_1_1

It was a perfect wedding and right at the end after Roger announced them husband and wife and that Alex may now kiss his bride, Alex suddenly takes his new bride and dips her with the kiss!! It was the perfect ending to a classic wedding with a classic pose!!

Roger Does Double Duty At His San Pedro Wedding

Sometimes Officiants are needed to play the role of friend, advisor, and, in a pinch, even play the part of wedding coordinator when things don’t go quite as a couple hopes.  We’re always happy to lend a helping hand any way we can.  For Roger’s wedding at the Whalers Walk in San Pedro a new role had to be taken on.

All was great except for one thing: the groom was incredibly nervous.  Roger calmed him on more than one occasion before the ceremony started.  Finally Roger reminded him that he had nothing to worry about, because he was standing with the woman he loved and, bonus, he had Roger there as his “wingman”.  Well, evidently that did the trick because after that the wedding went off without a hitch and the groom didn’t pass out.  All was good!

Roger has now requested that his business cards read: Roger, Great Officiant/Great Wingman.

Roger San Pedro

Here’s the nice note from the couple thanking Roger:
Roger,
We cant thank you enough for officiating our ceremony! Everyone present couldn’t stop commenting on how touching and fun the ceremony was. And thank you for being my wingman through it all!
Highest praises to you and the work you do. We will spread the good word far and wide!

Thanks again,
Mike and Angela

Roger’s Hawaiian Wedding and Total Eclipse of the Sun Wedding

They say the highest compliment you can pay to a performer is a standing ovation…..and Roger almost got it with his Hawaiian wedding on Saturday at the beautiful Point Fermin Lighthouse in San Pedro….. Not because it was a fantastic ceremony (which it was) or that the entire wedding party thought he did an amazing job (which he did), but because the company that the bride and groom hired to supply the chairs didn’t arrive till 5 minutes after the wedding was suppose to start !!! Roger, being the trooper he is, calmed the bride down and helped the frazzled chair guy unload the chairs and then it was wedding on !!! So almost a standing ovation because of no chairs !! Roger will take it as his own !!

Roger had a great wedding today at the always beautiful Nixon Library in Yorba Linda. It was a great day to get married except for one thing…… Today happens to be an annular eclipse of the sun which means the suns rays are very hard on the eyes and the entire wedding was set up facing the afternoon sun !! It was too late to change the venue direction, so with the entire wedding party shielding their eyes with their very handy wedding programs, Roger breezed thru the wedding !! Of course he didn’t have a problem with the sun, he was the ONLY person facing away from it !!!Share This Post:
