Adrian and Inez’s Malibu beach wedding

Image

From France with a small group of family and close friends, Inez and Adrian reached out to Great Officiants for a turnkey wedding on the beach.  The permits, chairs, Chuppah, flowers and even a sound system were all provided and set up seamlessly.

The forecast was for thundershowers on the eve of Adrian and Inez’s Malibu beach wedding.  Driving from San Clemente for two and a half hours in pouring rain didn’t exactly comfort me.  With no alternative for a dry ceremony, I plunged forward until I turned onto the quiet winding road toward Point Dume.  I was only ten minutes from the location when the clouds began to part and slowly the sun peeked through the gray.  Arriving at the end of the road, I noticed the unmistakable van from So Cal Beach Weddings.  Moments later, Michael drove up with the couple’s wedding license, issued on the spot and location.  When all was set up, Inez and Adrian arrived. The license was signed, witnessed by the rabbi and the ceremony began.

There are no words to describe the beauty of the beach in the midst of a passing cloud bank. The sun lighting the coastline and the iconic Point Dume surrounded the party with beauty that could not be staged by man.  It was a wonderful wedding gift from Nature herself.

We began with the signing of the couple’s beautiful custom Ketubah. With the designs given to me by Inez, I was able to complete what she envisioned.  As we moved into the ceremony, it was so touching to see tears of joy falling from Inez’s eyes.  The service was personable and lighthearted. When it was over, I was thinking that everyone would leave for their reception as it became quite cold and cloudy. Instead, I was surprised and moved when Adrian connected his smartphone to the speakers and played music that provided them a moment to be dancing on the beach, in Malibu, celebrating their dream wedding .  Mozel Tov Adrian and Inez!

Rev. Sarah performs a wedding on the sand in Redondo Beach, Frank performs one at Casa Romantica in San Clemente, and he performs one at Hotel Maya in Long Beach

Image

On the very beach where they got engaged, Alex and Jenny said, “I do!”   They opted for a Great Officiants Beach wedding, so everything was set up and ready for them when they got there –and it looked beautiful!  With the arch, flowers, and white chairs—it was the picture of perfection!  Of course, what really made it perfect was the two of them.  Walked down the aisle, by her son, Jenny looked gorgeous.  Alex had kept his gaze away, so he wouldn’t see her as she walked down the long Redondo Beach ramp and made her way to the aisle.  When he turned around there were tears as he locked eyes with his bride.

Both Alex and Jenny are salsa dancers, to their ceremony was focused on the intricacies of dance as a metaphor for marriage.   In this bilingual wedding  they chose to say their vows and exchange rings in Spanish, while I went back and forth between the two languages.  Their journey together has been very much like a dance, as they have gently maneuvered their lives, all the while letting love lead. Now as they begin their lives as a married couple, they vow to continue to dance, even when it’s hard, when they’ve forgotten the steps, or step on one another’s toes…still they dance and as long as they let love lead, their dance will be beautiful!

It was a joy to get to know this couple and see how they support one another, make sacrifices for the other, compromise, and invest in their love.  Many blessings Jennifer and Alex!   May your marriage be as beautiful as your wedding day!

Congratulations to Kaitlyn Marmaduke & Shawn Davidson on their Saturday, August 5, 2017 wedding at the beautiful Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens in San Clemente, CA.  It was a beautiful day, not to mention an exceptional setting overlooking the pacific ocean from the balcony cliff patio.  Although you were able to feel the temperature the ocean breeze was present as well.  It was an eloquent ceremony that was perfect from start to finish in every aspect.  They added the Rose presentation to their moms, which is always a toughing part of the ceremony.  Afterwhich, guests enjoyed cocktails on the beautifully appointed lawn followed by dinner in a “long awaited air conditioned” banquet hall.  My best to the NOW Mr. & Mrs.!

Congratulations to Diana Catibog & Vinson Yague on their Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Hotel Maya in Long Beach, CA.  It was a beautiful evening for a wedding with approximately 200 guests on the lawn at the edge of the water overlooking the Long Beach Seaport Village.  It was an elegant ceremony which included a Rose Bouquet presentation to Diana and Vinson’s moms as well as an exchange of heartfelt written personal vows.  The reception banquet room was eloquently appointed and the setting for a perfect time for all in attendance with beautiful ocean views following a relaxing outdoor cocktail hour on the patio on the water.  My very best to the newly married couple.Share This Post:

When Jeremy and Allison decided to get married, the big question was “Where?”

Image

When Jeremy and Allison decided to get married, the big question was “Where?”  They live in Kansas where his family is near, but Allison grew up in SoCal.  Once they saw San Clemente Beach, just north of the pier, they had the perfect romantic spot.  Now, how would they find a minister near the wedding site — one that is Christian yet with an open-minded perspective?   Boom … they called Great Officiants in Long Beach, and were put in touch with the Rev. Dr. Gary Barmore, pastor emeritus of Fairview Community Church in Costa Mesa CA.  Chatting long distance and then meeting in his home the week of the wedding, Allison and Jeremy knew that this was just sort of ceremony they had envisioned, and were thrilled that Rev. Gary could take over the conduct of the San Clemente event.  On the big day, it was indeed all they had imagined … and more.  The Kansan’s were stoked to be standing in the sand beside the iconic Pacific surf, and the Californians were reminded of what a great place this is to live, work and play.   The happily married couple are back in Kansas now, but their dream is to find jobs and move to coastal California.  Wherever …  they are counting the blessings of love.Share This Post:

One, Crazy, Fun Filled Wedding

Image

Roger had the honor of marrying Rick & Amanda this last weekend at Ole Hanson Beach Club in San Clemente.  This historic site of San Clemente has been there for 88 years and just a few years ago, received a total remake and is a perfect wedding venue overlooking the Pacific.  The wedding ceremony was held out on the grass because they had a large and loud wedding !  There were lots of people there and all of them were there to party !  Both Rick and Amanda had told Roger that this was not just a wedding but a party and that is what Roger gave them !  It was fun filled and touching to boot !!

Congratulations to Anna KcKinney and Joseph “Ian” Schiffman on their March 19, 2016 wedding at the Talega Golf Club in San Clemente, CA

Anna & Joe S. - 03.19.16

Congratulations to Anna KcKinney and Joseph “Ian” Schiffman on their March 19, 2016 wedding at the Talega Golf Club in San Clemente, CA.  The day started off cloudy but turned out to be a great California day.  A perfect day for a “perfect “ wedding.  The scenery, the setting, the guests, the music, the coordinators, the photographers and videographers (and let’s not forget the food and drink staff).  Their personal vows were perfect.  Although they didn’t add anything special to the ceremony the entire ceremony was SPECIAL – from the first kiss that they “snuck” in upon Anna’s entrance to the second kiss (first official kiss as husband and wife) at the end of the ceremony.  My best to the happy couple who are reading this from the beach in Hawaii!Share This Post:

Thanksgiving Day wedding ceremony on the beach

Image

Josephine and Daniel figured that since all the family was in town for Thanksgiving it was the perfect time to get married.

Daniel is a Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton. They meant on their friends blind date. They got to know each other and fell in love.

They chose the beach in San Clemente by the pier.

Josephine is seven months pregnant and excited about starting a new family.

I performed a modified Catholic style ceremony while they stood in the heart that I dug into the sand.

Their family was delighted and excited about this new family coming together.

We honor our military families and hope that they have a wonderful life together.

The sheltered alcove where Danielle Carlson and Justin Clements were about to tie the knot, decorated to the nines, put the shore to shame.

The beach in San Clemente on Saturday was absolutely gorgeous; but the sheltered alcove where Danielle Carlson and Justin Clements were about to tie the knot, decorated to the nines, put the shore to shame. And when Danielle first appeared in her stunning dress, it moved her groom to tears, in a moment caught by the groom’s mother. The ceremony, at the couples request, was heavily customized, and laced with humor. “It was perfect,” said the perfect bride.
