Rev. Sarah performs a wedding on the sand in Redondo Beach, Frank performs one at Casa Romantica in San Clemente, and he performs one at Hotel Maya in Long Beach

On the very beach where they got engaged, Alex and Jenny said, “I do!”   They opted for a Great Officiants Beach wedding, so everything was set up and ready for them when they got there –and it looked beautiful!  With the arch, flowers, and white chairs—it was the picture of perfection!  Of course, what really made it perfect was the two of them.  Walked down the aisle, by her son, Jenny looked gorgeous.  Alex had kept his gaze away, so he wouldn’t see her as she walked down the long Redondo Beach ramp and made her way to the aisle.  When he turned around there were tears as he locked eyes with his bride.

Both Alex and Jenny are salsa dancers, to their ceremony was focused on the intricacies of dance as a metaphor for marriage.   In this bilingual wedding  they chose to say their vows and exchange rings in Spanish, while I went back and forth between the two languages.  Their journey together has been very much like a dance, as they have gently maneuvered their lives, all the while letting love lead. Now as they begin their lives as a married couple, they vow to continue to dance, even when it’s hard, when they’ve forgotten the steps, or step on one another’s toes…still they dance and as long as they let love lead, their dance will be beautiful!

It was a joy to get to know this couple and see how they support one another, make sacrifices for the other, compromise, and invest in their love.  Many blessings Jennifer and Alex!   May your marriage be as beautiful as your wedding day!

Congratulations to Kaitlyn Marmaduke & Shawn Davidson on their Saturday, August 5, 2017 wedding at the beautiful Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens in San Clemente, CA.  It was a beautiful day, not to mention an exceptional setting overlooking the pacific ocean from the balcony cliff patio.  Although you were able to feel the temperature the ocean breeze was present as well.  It was an eloquent ceremony that was perfect from start to finish in every aspect.  They added the Rose presentation to their moms, which is always a toughing part of the ceremony.  Afterwhich, guests enjoyed cocktails on the beautifully appointed lawn followed by dinner in a “long awaited air conditioned” banquet hall.  My best to the NOW Mr. & Mrs.!

Congratulations to Diana Catibog & Vinson Yague on their Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Hotel Maya in Long Beach, CA.  It was a beautiful evening for a wedding with approximately 200 guests on the lawn at the edge of the water overlooking the Long Beach Seaport Village.  It was an elegant ceremony which included a Rose Bouquet presentation to Diana and Vinson’s moms as well as an exchange of heartfelt written personal vows.  The reception banquet room was eloquently appointed and the setting for a perfect time for all in attendance with beautiful ocean views following a relaxing outdoor cocktail hour on the patio on the water.  My very best to the newly married couple.

Rev. Sarah officiated for a fun and awesome couple at the Surf and Sand in Laguna Beach

Image

Christine and Bryce hail from Colorado, so we met first on skype.  I got to know this fun, adventurous, animal loving couple, and felt like I really had a feel for who they are and their journey almost instantaneously.  I loved hearing their story and was so excited to meet them!  We finally met in person the day before their wedding at their rehearsal at the Surf and Sand in Laguna Beach.  They were loving every minute of their time in California –they looked like they were heading to the beach the moment we finished the rehearsal!

By their wedding day, both Christine and Bryce were dressed to the nines!  Her bridal gown was gorgeous, and he was looking handsome.  I got the chance to witness their “first look” and saw the tears in Bryce’s eyes as he cast his first glance at his bride!  So sweet!

Their florists did an incredible job decorating an arch and creating an aisle of rose petals.  They had three stringed musicians, who played the most beautiful music.  The view from the Ocean Terrace was perfect –the sun was nearing sunset, the whole sky was simply magical, and the waves were crashing adding a whole new dimension to the accompany the musicians!

I’ve never been to a wedding that actually started early! But everyone was ready and lined up early and ready to go, with guests already present and seated before our 7:30pm start-time.  Very impressive!

Bryce and Christine opted to write their own vows -and they did so beautifully.  It was a lovely ceremony –filled with laughter and tears and a whole lot of love!  They both have such an adventurous spirit, they will challenge each other, and support one another, and have fun doing it!   Their wedding day was incredible – a perfect way to begin their marriage.  Many blessings along your journey!   Congratulations Bryce and Christine!

At the beautiful Hotel Laguna, surrounded by their friends and family, Christina and Charley said, “I do.”

Image

At the beautiful Hotel Laguna, surrounded by their friends and family, Christina and Charley said, “I do.”   Coming from the high desert, the ocean breeze was refreshing, offering them the perfect paradise to officially begin their lives as husband and wife.  With her father nervously walking her down the aisle, Christina looked the picture of perfection, and as they approached the flower adorned gazebo, Charley greeted her.  His own eyes had teared up the moment he saw her.

Both Charley and Christina know the importance of faith in their lives. Reading from Colossians they grounded their marriage in the words of Paul who reminded them to clothe themselves in love and always be grateful for the lives and love they have been given.

There were lots of laughs in their ceremony: there was a bit of difficulty getting Charley’s ring over his knuckle – the pair demonstrated their skill in working together as partners and eventually got it on!   We know it’s not ever coming off!   And when the time came for their sand ceremony – we all giggled a bit as they employed a ketchup bottle move, in order to get the still damp sand out of one of the bottles.   Like marriage, we can make all the best plans—but things are often out of our control.  Thankfully, Christina and Charley know laughter is the best way to make it through when things don’t go exactly as expected!  In the end, those little moments of laughter will be memorable moments!

They were all smiles, when they were finally announced husband and wife, cheered on by their friends and family!  Congratulations to the happy couple: Charley and Christina!

Krista and Kelley’s Wedding: April 29, 2017 Hotel Laguna

Image

Instead of April showers, Krista and Kelley were blessed with sunshine and clear skies, on their wedding day in Laguna Beach.  On the sands of Hotel Laguna, their friends and family traveled from the hot desert of Arizona to the ocean breeze of Southern California, to witness this lovely couple say, “I do.”    Everything was perfect –from the bride’s gorgeous dress and bouquet, to the beautifully decorated arch, the DJ’s music and the wedding coordinator’s attention to detail – our only fear was the rising tide!  But thanks to Hotel Laguna staff for digging a trench and creating a berm we made it through the ceremony without anyone floating away!  We even had an unexpected guest –a sea lion swam up to observe the couple exchange their vows!

It was a real joy to stand with Krista and Kelley and their family as they professed their love and vowed to be in relationship with one another as long as they both shall live.  Cherishing the love God has given them to nurture and sustain, it’s clear that Krista and Kelley will undoubtedly be blessed in their marriage as they begin their lives together as husband and wife.

Congratulations to this special couple!  What an incredibly beautiful wedding!  May your marriage continue to be filled with beauty and love!

Rev. Sarah performs a beautiful beach ceremony in Huntington Beach

Image

On a sunny Saturday in October, a beautiful bride surrounded by her lovely maids, stood in the sand as the breeze gently blew her hair and rippled her dress, while she awaited the arrival of her groom so she could walk down the aisle to start their lives together in Huntington Beach.

Brianna and Melvin waited a long time for this moment, and finally on the beach before their family and friends, their love, which began with a good friendship and grew into a best friendship, true love and partnership, was sealed as they exchanged vows and said “I do.”

There under the blue, blue sky with the deep vast ocean behind them and the warm sand at their feet, they promised to journey together through the ups and downs of life’s roller coaster, to walk hand in hand, and choose to love daily.

The turquoise blues and the bright coral complemented nature’s magnificent colors, paired with the arch and flowers made a picturesque setting.  October’s warm weather made for an extended summer wedding that was perfect for Brianna and Melvin.    Of course, nothing compared to the way Melvin looked at her, both misty eyed, as they said their vows to one another.

It was a lovely wedding, filled with the hope of the bride and groom’s love, and that of their family and friends that surrounded them with love and well wishes.

Happy Wedding Brianna and Melvin!

At beautiful Little Corona in Newport Beach Linda and Scott said “I do.”

At beautiful Little Corona in Newport Beach Linda and Scott said “I do.”  In their private ceremony on the shore, they were joined by their 4 children, who each played a role in blessing their parents union.

This was a very family centered ceremony that, while lifting up the sacred love that both Scott and Linda found in each other, focused on the merging of their two families and the joy they experience as they come together.  After Scott and Linda affirmed their desire to be faithful to one another, all four children were asked to also say their “I do’s” — to bless and commit to relationship together as a new family.

As the sun set upon the ocean, it rises in their new relationship.  The beauty of the afternoon surely reflects the beauty of their relationship.  What a blessing to stand before this committed couple as they vowed to journey with one another through life!

What a joy to be with Tiffany and Jeff at the beautiful Orange Hill restaurant

Image

20151025_174445_resized
What a joy to be with Tiffany and Jeff at the beautiful Orange Hill restaurant.  It was decorated classically with none other than Tiffany blue and a lovely soft white,   The flowers were everywhere and simply gorgeous!   Their only match was the bride.  Tiffany looked stunning.

She and Jeff had a long road to get to this place.   Together for years, they have been career focused,  sometimes long distance, in order to advance, but always loving and supporting one another.

Tiffany’s own story is poignant.  Her parents both died when she was young, leaving her to grow up quickly.  Their death has defined her life but it hasn’t destroyed.   We can see her strength, her strong character,  her will and her compassion.   They are in everything she does, and everything she is.

So their wedding began with a recognition of parents, and an opportunity for Jeff to lay bouquets of flowers at her parents’ seats,  reminding all present that even though they were absent physically they still present –their spirits were certainly among us.

Standing with the mountains on one side, sweeping views of Orange County, and the ocean on another,  Jeff and Tiffany stood at the precipice of their new life and said “I do.”   This wasn’t a fairytale wedding, although it had all the beauty of one,  but it was instead a real life wedding for a real life marriage. Aware of the ups and downs, the heartache of life and the incredible joys, Tiffany and Jeff said yes to the journey.  Before their family and friends, the spirit of her parents, the God who knows and loves them, they exchanged vows and rings and began a life grounded in love.

Blessings to a very special couple!
