Three Weddings From all over, one at the Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach, one at the Athenaeum in Pasadena, and one at Los Willows Private Estate in San Diego

Robert, Trina and I had very little time to get to know each other. So I immediately set up a time to discuss what exactly what they wanted for their ceremony. They both reside in Houston, TX, so as a fellow Texan we all got along so well. As we started the planning process, the news came of Hurricane Harvey. It was set to hit Houston hard, and bring devastating flooding. I only imagined what this couple went through. They were worried for their homes and their personal safety, and the safety of their friends and family. I did whatever I could to bring them some peace and comfort during this insanely challenging time for them. To say they handled it well is an understatement. They were troopers, they never let the situation get the best of them. They stood strong. I was truly blessed to get to know them and celebrate this very special day with them, to find such a beautiful bright sunbeam in the midst of all the devastating natural disaster.

Day of Coordinator – Jennifer Cooper

Shade Hotel, Manhattan Beach

The date: Oct. 14, 2017. The place: The Athenaeum, Pasadena. Christina & Ryan were married by Rev. Ralph under the large Jacaranda tree on the beautiful grounds adjacent to the California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech). It was a beautiful warm day, but comfortable in the shade. Wedding coordinator Samantha Sisk or La Bella Dia events had everything under control. A talented string quartet provided a romantic mood, and the proverbial knot was tied in joyous fashion!

It was a real pleasure for me to be invited to celebrate this weekend with Maria Alindogan and Jeff Rivera who got married at Los Willows Private Estate in the rolling hills of northern San Diego County.  This beautiful young couple and their dog Charlie (the ring bearer) welcomed family and friends from near and far to celebrate their special day with them.

The venue is among the most beautiful I have ever visited.  With a private lake, outside seating with gas fire pits, a beautiful covered pavilion, and a shady meadow, the setting was ideal for a late fall wedding as the sun dipped behind the hills and cool shadow enveloped the small valley.

This lovely couple choose to celebrate an abbreviated version of the Catholic Rite of Marriage Outside of Mass.¬† In addition to using the traditional vows of the Church, the couple wrote vows to one another which, once recited, left not a dry eye in the house.¬† I really enjoyed meeting this couple’s families and friends who were welcoming, kind, and eager to show their love and support for Maria and Jeff as they declared “themselves to be a family before their families, friends, and God.”¬† May they have a long and happy life together!

Reading from the Velveteen Rabbit highlites the Wedding Ceremony at Verandas in Manhattan Beach

Image

Lauren and Alex exchanged vows today at Verandas in Manhattan Beach. I love this venue. It is clean and different and it makes for a great wedding.

During the wedding each one of their wedding party did a reading. For me a highlight was when they read a selection from the book the velveteen rabbit.
Into the ceremony I incorporated their love story from when they met on OkCupid to all the adventures they have had leading up to today. I made it light and fun and really captured the essence of their life together.

I love doing ceremonies like this as it smashes the normal mold of things and create something different. The smiles and the compliments after the wedding told the story of the reaction from the guests. I wish them a wonderful happy life together.

A Summer Wedding at the Verandas Beach House in Manhattan Beach

Image

Steph & Reggie
Rev. Ralph was delighted to officiate for the wedding of Stephanie Chen and Reginald Smith at the Verandas Beach House in Manhattan Beach on Saturday, July 25.  A few blocks up from the ocean in a very nondescript building, the venue is beautiful on the inside and a pleasure to experience. Stephanie and Reggie were beaming with joy (and a few tears) as they exchanged their vows in front of a happy gathering of their family and friends.

Later, Stephanie wrote: ¬†“THANK YOU SO MUCH again for officiating our wedding! My dad was really touched by what you said. I could not have imagined it any other way.”

Great Officiant Michael Has Been Popular this Wedding Season!!

Great Officiant Michael is always very sought out after! Here are some of his weddings highlighting ceremonies in Los Angeles and Orange County. Congratulations on being such a wonderful Officiant!

David & Jessica

Married at Pickwick Gardens in Burbank, CA On June 11,2014

David and Jessica

David and Jessica were such a lovely couple to work! ¬†I had the honor of telling their love story to their family and friends and closing out their wedding with a traditional Jewish Glass Breaking. They also chose to both repeat vows after me and write further personal notes to each other – something I’m noticing a lot of couples starting to do now, allowing for both a sense of tradition and personalization.

I was overjoyed to be a part of their ceremony and wish them all my best.

Karen & Jeremy

Married at Ramsey’s at The Club– Los Angeles on June 14, 2014

Karen and Jeremy were a dream couple to work with. ¬†We met a couple months prior to their ceremony over sushi to get to know each other and put together a ceremony including exactly what they wanted. ¬†On the day-of, right before the ceremony, I was joking with the best man that when I ask him for the rings he should throw them at me as hard as he can and we’ll just see what happens. ¬†Well during the ceremony he took the opportunity to get me back. ¬†Unbeknownst to me, when I asked for the rings he instead took out a quarter and threw it at me! ¬†I was shocked thinking he actually threw the rings and everyone in attendance broke out in a huge round of laughter.

At the end of their ceremony, Karen and Jeremy saluted each other with a special toast – a tradition that they have between the two of them – a perfect way to end a perfect ceremony.

Afterwards, they were so kind to leave the following review for us:

“Our Officiant was Michael Thieling. Our actual ceremony was short and sweet but thanks to Michael very memorable. One of the most heard comments from our guests was regarding how great our Officiant was and we couldn’t agree more. Thank you Michael for helping to make our wedding such a wonderful event for us and our guests!”

Thank you both for the memories and a ceremony moment I’ll never forget!!!

John and Marla

John and Marla got married in a small, intimate ceremony surrounded by family at the quaint Blue Lantern Inn in Dana Point.  When I first met them a few months prior to their ceremony, we gathered at the venue to discuss their ceremony and I was able to make some suggestions to change the actual ceremony location within the venue to allow for better pictures and a more open experience.

They capped their ceremony off with a Love Letter and Wine Box ceremony and after their nuptials they were off to celebrate with a family dinner next door.

All our best John and Marla!

Jamie and Wade

Jamie and Wade were a dream couple to work with. ¬†Since they were coming from Florida, we did all of their ceremony planning over the phone – something I’m very used to doing with the many out-of-state couples that we have the pleasure of working with.

The Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach provided an amazing venue for their wedding Рbig enough for their many guests but extremely private and intimate so that you felt like no one else was there except for the wedding guests.  We performed a short acknowledgement of family for some of their loved ones who had passed and had a guest recite First Corinthians. After they exchanged rings, Jamie and Wade performed a lovely Unity Candle ceremony with a customized candle.

After the ceremony, they had the following to say:

“Great Officiant!!! Michael Thieling was our Officiant for our ceremony. He exceeded our expectations!! From the first conversation we had, he made me feel very at ease and seemed to get the couple that my husband and I are right from the start. He had great contact leading up to our wedding and was a complete pleasure to work with. Also, he added a bit of light heartedness to the ceremony when he knew it could be used, which is what made our wedding simply epic!!!!

Thank you, Michael!!!!”

Thank you so much Jamie and Wade – it was my pleasure!

Awesome Bridal Show in Long Beach

We attended a great Bridal Show last Sunday on November 10 from 11am Р1pm. Although we were in the direct sun, we stayed nice and cool in the nearby shade where we spoke with many brides about our services.

Heartwarming Tears at Flordeliz and Tele’a’s Wedding

On Sunday, November¬†10 at¬†4pm, I officiated a fantastic ceremony for Flordeliz and Tele’a at the garden of the Verandas Beach House – Manhattan Beach. The wedding¬†felt like¬†a¬†huge party which¬†included sponsors, family, and bridal party.¬† It was such a heartwarming ceremony, and¬†everyone was crying, followed by what I’m sure was a jamming party with lots of dancing!
