Hilton San Gabriel Christian Wedding

Image

Who would have thought that one of the most beautiful places for a wedding would be on top of a Hilton Hotel on Valley Blvd in San Gabriel?

But Andy Kim and Sunhee Lee discovered this venue, and with family and friends enjoyed a wonderful day of celebrating love and marriage.  Through Great Officiants of Long Beach the couple connected with Rev Dr Gary Barmore who led a ceremony just perfect for them.

However, when Andy and Sunhee mounted the gazebo platform, Rev Gary noticed a look of rather grave concern on their faces as they spoke softly in Korean.  He wondered if something might be hindering their plans of commitment and bliss.  Oh my!   Then Andy explained with a whisper that they had left the ring box in their hotel room.  (The attached photo shows the moment when Andy asked a friend to hasten and fetch the wedding bands.)  When it was time for the exchange of vows and rings the box had not yet arrived, so Rev Gary walked down to where the couple’s parents were sitting, asked them to stand, and for the couple to bring them hugs and words of appreciation for the heritage which they were taking into the creation of their own family.

There was clapping and celebration all around, and the beautiful ceremony proceeded as planned.

A Beautiful Day at the Bel-air Bay.

Image

On a glorious Saturday afternoon I had the honor and pleasure of oļ¬ƒciating at The Bel Air Bay club. This private over 100 year old club is truly old California. Spanish Moorish style, overlooking the sparkling Paciļ¬c Ocean Calvin and Helen got married in ultimate style. Every thing about this event was absolutely perfect. Trina Schmidt and her staļ¬€ are no doubt professional with years of experience. We had 170 guests .

Our ceremony was custom designed to their liking a beautiful blend of Christian and Buddhists. Lighthearted yet sincere, they chose to compose their own vows. My ļ¬rst time working with a translator. Ms. Vy Huyen Hoang is a very skilled translator. She translated our whole ceremony to Vietnamese.

We also had the pleasure of listening to a fabulous trio of string instruments gently playing in the background. Angelā€™s I say WOW ! They had a beautiful group of friends in their bridal party including their two adorable doggies dressed in wedding attire. Our awesome public notary on staļ¬€ Al-X came from Long Beach to hand delivered the Marriage Certiļ¬cate .

We are the only company in California allowed to issue this document other than the register recorder county clerk. Such a huge plus to have this privilege for our clients. Fast and easy . Of course the evening was full of love and laughter eating drinking and dancing . I thank this beautiful couple and wish them all great things in life . Thank you for choosing Great oļ¬ƒciants and me Oļ¬ƒciant Lisa Smith.

A poem by The poet Rumi highlights this wedding at the montage in Laguna Beach

When doing an interfaith wedding it is important to bring both sides together such was the case with today's wedding. He was Christian and her family was Muslim. I had to find a way of bridging the gap between the two of them while not insulting or alienating either side. So I focus the ceremony on their love story and incorporate first Corinthians and a poem from Rumi……..
A Blessing from Rumi
May these vows and this marriage be blessed.
May it be sweet milk,
this marriage, like wine and halvah.
May this marriage offer fruit and shade, like the date palm.
May this marriage be full of laughter,
our every day a paradise.
May this marriage be a sign of compassion,
a seal of happiness here and hereafter.
May this marriage have a fair face and a good name,
an omen as welcome
as the moon in a clear blue sky.

Both sides of the aisle recognize their various verses and both sides of the aisle were smiling.

The Montage is an amazing venue. Their wedding lawn has a wonderful view of the ocean.
This view was accentuated by the beautiful floral design of Square Root. Their lavish designs always impress me.
Just have a wonderful happy hour outdoors overlooking the water before they settle then to the reception indoors.
