Roger Verses Misha the Flower Girl

Image

Roger always likes to officiate at the Calamigos Equestrian Center in Burbank.  It’s a beautiful setting, intimate yet spacious enough… And the bride and groom Jessica and Michael really wanted to make it special, not only for them but for their shy, 3 year old daughter Misha who was going to be the flower girl for the wedding.  They were a little nervous not knowing if Misha would even walk down the aisle let alone make it thru the ceremony.  So they begin the ceremony… the bridal party makes it’s way down… then the families… then the ring bearer… and then Misha… who makes it down perfectly!!!  She even drops the flower petals as planned…
It’s perfect… until she sees daddy standing there and runs to him to be picked up… But daddy needs her to sit down so the bride Jessica can come out… But Misha isn’t having it… She wants up!! Dad Michael doesn’t know what to do and everybody else is frozen.  So Roger comes to the rescue… He whispers into the microphone that “they have cookies over in the front row for you”… That’s all it took and she was done with daddy… cookies won out!  Thank goodness Roger saw that they did indeed have cookies or he would have some explaining to do! And the wedding went off without a hitch!!

Roger Rocks Three Ceremonies: one at the Taglyan Complex in Los Angeles, one at the Quiet Cannon in Montebello, and one at Castaways in Burbank

Image

As we all know, Southern California has been testing our comfort limits with the recent heat waves.  And this last weekend really was a doozy.  Roger had the honor of marrying Henry & Kat this last weekend at the incredible Taglyan Complex in Los Angeles.  This is one of the most amazing wedding venues, top shelf staff, beautiful lighting, everything……..except a way to keep an outside wedding cool !  The poor groom Henry was not only nervous but doing an awful lot of perspiring………. But he was a trooper because he was marrying the love of his life !

Roger was honored to be part of this wonderful, romantic wedding this last Saturday for Kendrick & Lauren.  It was held at the always amazing Quiet Cannon in Montebello.  Now Kendrick & Lauren are a fun loving couple and the groom Kendrick is big time into comics, movies and especially Star Wars !  So Roger delivered!!  Is was both fun and romantic and Roger, who has learned from the best, his boss Alan Katz, added in some pizazz theme commentary for the groom !  It was a wedding too remember, even for the imperial storm troopers !!

Roger officiated a wonderful wedding this last weekend at Castaways in Burbank.  Now even though Castaways is closed for renovations, they still had their hands full with three weddings all happening at the same time.  But Castaways always has their act together and everything went smooth for all three weddings !  And as for the wedding couple, Joshua & Kysstina, they are in incredibly loving couple who really wanted their guests to have as much fun as they were planning to have.  So they asked Roger to pull out all the stops….and Roger did indeed !  It was a perfect wedding except for one very little, tiny if you will, problem……One enterprising gnat that would not leave Roger or Joshua alone !  All during Roger’s reading, this gnat, was constantly buzzing Roger’s ear and Roger really had to concentrate and not show his displeasure with this uninvited guest…And once Joshua started reading his own vows, the gnat actually then went over too Joshua and gave him the buzzing treatment too !  Joshua had to swat him away just to get thru his moving speech.  Other than that, the wedding was perfect !Share This Post:

Wesley had three awesome weddings at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs, Calamigos Equestrian in Burbank, and the San Dimas Golf Course

Image

Tim and Stephanie were wed at the infamous Ace Hotel in Palm Spriings. Tim had friends and family fly in from England, while Stephanie had all her friends and family fly in from New York, where this couple met. Needless to say, it was a classy affair. New York is where they both discovered and realized their love for Habañero Margaritas. It’s also the city they love, and where they reside. The whole event was stylish, and even a bit Hipster-ish. All they needed was a live performance from the Killers.

Wedding Planner – Nicole Alexandra Gillis – Nicole Alexandra Events

Kaleena and Mike were united at the beautiful and unique Calamigos Equestrian in Burbank. Even though they were young, they have  devoted and developed their relationship over 5 years of being together. They also both have a love and respect for each other’s cultures, as we had a Lasso Ceremony celebrated in Mexican Culture for Kaleena, and an Irish prayer at the end for Mike. It was a beautiful union of two souls!

So Janette and Eddie, aka Her Worshipfulness and the Scoundrel, love Star Wars. So we definitely mentioned the Death Star destroying anyone who objected to their wedding. They also wanted their two cats, Wilson and Dexter to feel included so we did a short Family Unity ceremony with them as well! Janette and Eddie love each other so much, and could just be themselves with each other. It also showed in the way Eddie proposed to her. They took a helicopter to the top of a Glacier in Alaska! It was lighthearted and fun at the San Dimas Golf Course, and I am sure they will not witness such a unique ceremony for some time to come!Share This Post:

Very Touching Wedding At Castaways

Image

ro

Roger officiated a very touching wedding at Castaways this last Saturday.  If was for Tim & Sarena, a really great couple.  Tim was not only marrying Sarena but also was adopting her children as well.  So Tim surprised them and did his own special vows just for the children.  There was not a dry eye in the house, including Roger.  A great wedding and a great family.

It took twenty years, but now they’re married!

Image Howard and Jennifer.

I had the pleasure of performing a wedding ceremony for a very nice couple named Howard Chu and Jennifer Ilagan this past weekend. The wedding took place at The Castaways in Burbank, on Friday evening, May 1st.

Howard and Jennifer have a very interesting storyline.  This couple started dating twenty years ago……..in high school. And although these high school sweethearts did not know it at the time, marriage was inevitably in their future.

After graduating high school Howard and Jennifer went their separate ways. Both went off to college, and had very successful, although separate lives. As fate would have it however, they eventually reconnected with each other. And after twenty years of living apart……tied the knot on Friday night.

The couple had two adult children present, one of which walked Jennifer down the aisle and gave her hand in marriage to Howard. After the wedding ceremony the couple had a great reception for family and friends at The Castaways.

Howard and Jennifer also made great choices in their selection of vendors. Great Officiants provided the ceremony. Nannette Ricaforte provided the Photography and Craig from Benton Entertainment provided the D.J. services. And of course, The Castaways provided a great meal and catering service.

All and all, it was a picture perfect wedding, on a picture perfect day, with a great human interest story to boot!

Here are some nice words they had to say:

"Rev. Michael Woods is a highly organized, and professional officiant. For us, juggling wedding planning while working full-time was not an easy task, Michael was able to quickly and efficiently help us organize and customize our vowels to be our own. He is very quick to respond to our questions and very pleasant to work with. Some of Michael's greatest assets are his stage presence, articulate voice, and calming demeanor infused with a sense of playful optimism. As I look back at the video of our ceremony Michael conducted, I get the sense that he really enjoys what he does while paying attention to minor details. I would highly recommend Rev. Michael Woods to my friends."

Congratulations Howard and Jennifer. A couple that time would not let stay apart.

Dr. Michael A. Woods

Great Officiant Michael Has Been Popular this Wedding Season!!

Great Officiant Michael is always very sought out after! Here are some of his weddings highlighting ceremonies in Los Angeles and Orange County. Congratulations on being such a wonderful Officiant!

David & Jessica

Married at Pickwick Gardens in Burbank, CA On June 11,2014

David and Jessica

David and Jessica were such a lovely couple to work!  I had the honor of telling their love story to their family and friends and closing out their wedding with a traditional Jewish Glass Breaking. They also chose to both repeat vows after me and write further personal notes to each other – something I’m noticing a lot of couples starting to do now, allowing for both a sense of tradition and personalization.

I was overjoyed to be a part of their ceremony and wish them all my best.

Karen & Jeremy

Married at Ramsey’s at The Club– Los Angeles on June 14, 2014

Karen and Jeremy were a dream couple to work with.  We met a couple months prior to their ceremony over sushi to get to know each other and put together a ceremony including exactly what they wanted.  On the day-of, right before the ceremony, I was joking with the best man that when I ask him for the rings he should throw them at me as hard as he can and we’ll just see what happens.  Well during the ceremony he took the opportunity to get me back.  Unbeknownst to me, when I asked for the rings he instead took out a quarter and threw it at me!  I was shocked thinking he actually threw the rings and everyone in attendance broke out in a huge round of laughter.

At the end of their ceremony, Karen and Jeremy saluted each other with a special toast – a tradition that they have between the two of them – a perfect way to end a perfect ceremony.

Afterwards, they were so kind to leave the following review for us:

“Our Officiant was Michael Thieling. Our actual ceremony was short and sweet but thanks to Michael very memorable. One of the most heard comments from our guests was regarding how great our Officiant was and we couldn’t agree more. Thank you Michael for helping to make our wedding such a wonderful event for us and our guests!”

Thank you both for the memories and a ceremony moment I’ll never forget!!!

John and Marla

John and Marla got married in a small, intimate ceremony surrounded by family at the quaint Blue Lantern Inn in Dana Point.  When I first met them a few months prior to their ceremony, we gathered at the venue to discuss their ceremony and I was able to make some suggestions to change the actual ceremony location within the venue to allow for better pictures and a more open experience.

They capped their ceremony off with a Love Letter and Wine Box ceremony and after their nuptials they were off to celebrate with a family dinner next door.

All our best John and Marla!

Jamie and Wade

Jamie and Wade were a dream couple to work with.  Since they were coming from Florida, we did all of their ceremony planning over the phone – something I’m very used to doing with the many out-of-state couples that we have the pleasure of working with.

The Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach provided an amazing venue for their wedding – big enough for their many guests but extremely private and intimate so that you felt like no one else was there except for the wedding guests.  We performed a short acknowledgement of family for some of their loved ones who had passed and had a guest recite First Corinthians. After they exchanged rings, Jamie and Wade performed a lovely Unity Candle ceremony with a customized candle.

After the ceremony, they had the following to say:

“Great Officiant!!! Michael Thieling was our Officiant for our ceremony. He exceeded our expectations!! From the first conversation we had, he made me feel very at ease and seemed to get the couple that my husband and I are right from the start. He had great contact leading up to our wedding and was a complete pleasure to work with. Also, he added a bit of light heartedness to the ceremony when he knew it could be used, which is what made our wedding simply epic!!!!

Thank you, Michael!!!!”

Thank you so much Jamie and Wade – it was my pleasure!
