Roger had the honor of marrying Ruben & Vanessa this last Saturday at the always amazing Ayres Hotel in Hawthorne. This particular Ayres hotel has an amazing central courtyard with beautiful trees and wonderful acoustics for the ceremony. The staff and venue coordinator are always spot on and always willing to go the extra mile to help out…..except there was nothing they could do this last Saturday to ask the extra 500 or so uninvited wedding guests to leave the ceremony….. Not that there was anything anyone could do………you see, a swarm of over 500 bees had decided about a hour before the ceremony, to make their new home right in the tree over the alter !! The group decision was to still have the ceremony where it was at but not to make any quick movements…. and it worked out perfectly ! Not one person got stung or even bothered ! I guess Roger’s ceremony went over well with the bees too, not one of them complained. And as you can imagine, it gave Roger some really great material for fun comments throughout the ceremony !!
Rev. Ralph had a busy weekend and a lot of traveling! On Friday, August 1st, he drove from his West L.A. home to the Westlake Village Inn for the wedding of Lucie & Gianfranco. The next day, Rev. Ralph drove all the way to Ontario for Valerie & Abel’s ceremony which took place at the Ontario Ayres Hotel. Both occasions were lovely and well worth the trip—happy couples, delighted friends, caring families, and lots of love everywhere!
Eddie and Kenny opened their house up to easily over 150 of their friends and family to hold their wedding right where they love to entertain – their home. This couple is full of love and laughter and their commitment to friends and family is readily apparent – they had four different friends of theirs come up to do readings (including 1st Corinthians) throughout the ceremony after Michael had finished telling their amazing love story. The celebration closed with a traditional glass breaking under the chuppah, thereby combining both their Christian and Jewish backgrounds.
After their ceremony, they sent Michael this lovely note:
“Michael! We just want to say how many people told us how amazing you were as our Officiant and they were absolutely right! You were classy and fun and sweet. It was a perfect ceremony and we owe it to you. Again, thanks for making our special day that much more special.
Your friends, Kenny and Eddie”
Our heartfelt congratulations gentlemen!
Wilbert and Anna wanted a simple, straightforward ceremony to tie the knot in front of their family and friends in the cozy garden patio at the Ayres Hotel in Hawthorne – and ended up getting a few hotel guest onlookers as well!
