Here is what the beaming couple had to say:

Hi Rev. Woody,

Thank you for helping us with figuring out the paperwork and ceremony and everything else. All of our guests absolutely loved you and the ceremony. We wish you all the best! 🙂 [I left a review on yelp as well… sorry for the delay, we just got back from our honeymoon].

Thank you again!

Warmly,

Mia and Connor

Saving the Day at Triunfo Creek Vineyards

Image

Angel and Armando were dealt something that no Bride and Groom should have to go through a day before their wedding, a close family member was hospitalized. But I have never been so inspired and moved by the grace and sheer will power that had to overcome it. They were kind and calm even after having to move the ceremony a day later. I was blessed to be apart of the wedding of this special couple at Triunfo Creek Vineyards.

Angel and Armando are a unique couple to say the least. Their first date? They went to the movie theater to see ‘Saw 3’. They love comics and shows based on them. During their vows, Armando said he would “be her Spidey” to which Angel replied ‘I will be your Wonder Woman”. Angel’s birthday happens to land on Valentine’s Day and she made sure Angel knew she never wanted to be proposed to on her birthday. So what did Armando do? Just that. She never saw it coming.

But perhaps the most unique and special thing about Angel and Armando is their adorable son, Austin. Together, they make the most impressive team of Super Heroes I’ve ever seen.

To the Happy couple, Congratulations!

Beautiful Day For a Wedding At The Winery.

Image

The wedding that united this Orange County couple proved that an intimate gathering of family and a meal (and of course champagne) is all that’s needed to create lasting memories .

Ken and Lynn Antler began their life as a  married partnership at The Winery in Newport Beach, CA. A total of ten family members  and two waiters witnessed this sweet, simple and low-key ceremony.  The best part of this ceremony for me was seeing Lynn go completely off-script of ya vows she’d written and speak to Ken from her heart.

Congratulations to the happy couple!

Father Jacob had two awesome weddings, Plaza de Magdalena in San Juan Capistrano, Catamaran Resort in San Diego

Image

On Saturday, the eve of the Feast of St. Mary Magdalene, the Jaramillo and Benton families gathered with their friends to celebrate the Catholic Rite of Marriage Outside of Mass at Plaza de Magdalena. Located only a block away from Mission San Juan Capistrano in south Orange County, Plaza de Magdalena is an ideal and beautiful place to celebrate a wedding.

Kimmy and Kevin opted to have scripture readings included in their Rite of Marriage allowing for fuller participation of their families in the ceremony.  In addition to using the vows of the Church, they also wrote their own beautiful vows to one another.  The ceremony ended with the parents of the newly married couple performing a “sand ceremony” along with the couple.

It has been a real pleasure over the last few months to work with Jinwen Li and Christopher Fong on the preparations for their wedding ceremony.  Today, surrounded by their families and friends, we finally celebrated their wedding at the Catamaran Resort in San Diego.

The Catamaran, a truly beautiful place to celebrate a wedding and to mark the start of a new life together, is located in the San Diego neighborhood of Pacific Beach.  The beautiful property sits between the San Diego Bay and Mission Beach.

The actual ceremony took place in the warm white sand overlooking the calm blue water of the bay.  Although the marine layer rolled in off the Pacific just before the wedding started, the sun came out from behind the clouds as the couple read the vows they prepared for one another. Appropriate to the setting, they closed their wedding with a sand ceremony to mark the permanent character of their commitment.Share This Post:

Elizabeth and Matthew wrote their own vows and read them together at Avensole Winery Temecula

Image

Elizabeth and Matthew were very detailed and very much involved throughout the process. They wrote their own vows and read them together. It was done with class and to the point. It was obvious they were very much in love and icing on the cake: “Coco” (Maltese poodle) was their ring bearer. Coco just sat down as the best man removed the rings. ”

They did a great job modifying:  “The Arras and El Lazo and wrote their own wine celebration: “Two Lives as One” by Matthew and Elizabeth. It was awesome. The pouring of the wine and the toast was classy showing their unconditional love.

Throughout the entire ceremony they stared at each other, holding hands with  big smile. Their family and guest were in tuned and at the conclusion they walked away and faded through the winery for their wedding pictures.

Coordinator: Jessica.

Venue: Avensole Winery Temecula

Awesome venue. Plenty of parking and a beautiful venue to celebrate your wedding ceremony.         Jessica and her team did a great job. Totally well planned.

Jessica and Scott’s wedding on Sunday 04 June was a dream come true. California wines rival those of Europe and our wineries are equally romantic. This wedding at Lake Oak Meadows Winery had the perfect blend of rustic and refined. Family and guests delighted in the beautiful park-like setting. Here the photos really do speak for themselves.

Two Modern Hindu Fusion Weddings in Northern California for Suvin

On August 13th, at the Wente Vineyards in Livermore, Rad and Piper tied the knot in a beautiful traditional/fusion Hindu Ceremony. The ceremony started with a traditional Baraat, where Radha rode her bicycle from the entrance of the Winery to the tent where the ceremony would take place. It was an amazing show, as there were almost 400 guests involved in the baraat and ceremony.

In front of the tent, I lead a prayer. I asked everyone to be seated, and then performed the ceremony. The ceremony was very traditional, complete with a prayer to Ganesh, the Mangal Mantras, the Hastmelap, or joining of the hands, the Chedda Chedi, or tying of the knot, Jai mala, or exchange of garlands, the exchange of the Mangalsutra, the Vivah homa, or sacred fire, with the Mangel Fera, or circling of the fire. They had some traditional repeated vows and a ring exchange, and ended the ceremony with the seven steps.

This beautiful melding of cultures was exciting to be a part of. I made sure both brides and their families were represented, and were happy with the traditions being honored. At the end of the day, it is all about what the couple wants, it is their ceremony, and it is a celebration of their love.

Rad and Piper were thrilled to have the ceremony of their dreams come to life.

After performing the ceremony, I drove an hour and a half north, to Sacramento, where the next ceremony would take place the next day.

On August 14th, Aashika and Alex were married at the beautiful Grand Island Mansion in Walnut Grove. Surrounded by family and friends, I was able to incorporate Alex’s Greek and Celtic heritage within the Hindu ceremony.

I began the ceremony with a prayer to Lord Ganesh, to bless the marriage. I then recited the Mangal Mantras, or prayers to the planet Mars, which represents strength and passion. I incorporated the standard I dos, and they both gave the right answer :).

The bride’s parents then came up and joined us for the Brahma Vivah, or the water ceremony. Aashika’s parents poured water into Alex and Aashika’s palms, symbolizing the passing of family heritage to the next generation. We then performed the Vivah Homa and Mangal Fera, the fire ceremony and the circling of the fire.

To honor Alex’s Greek Orthodox culture, I placed the crowns, or stefana, on their heads. To honor Alex’s Celtic background, we performed a hand fasting ceremony, where the two were bound by the cord of love.

They exchanged some beautiful personalized vows, and performed the ring exchange.

They performed the seven steps, and I removed the crowns. I pronounced them married, and they took their walk down the aisle.

Aashika made these beautiful programs shaped like a fan, and had these kind words to share:
