Hotel Wedding

Three Weddings From all over, one at the Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach, one at the Athenaeum in Pasadena, and one at Los Willows Private Estate in San Diego

Robert, Trina and I had very little time to get to know each other. So I immediately set up a time to discuss what exactly what they wanted for their ceremony. They both reside in Houston, TX, so as a fellow Texan we all got along so well. As we started the planning process, the news came of Hurricane Harvey. It was set to hit Houston hard, and bring devastating flooding. I only imagined what this couple went through. They were worried for their homes and their personal safety, and the safety of their friends and family. I did whatever I could to bring them some peace and comfort during this insanely challenging time for them. To say they handled it well is an understatement. They were troopers, they never let the situation get the best of them. They stood strong. I was truly blessed to get to know them and celebrate this very special day with them, to find such a beautiful bright sunbeam in the midst of all the devastating natural disaster.

Day of Coordinator – Jennifer Cooper

Shade Hotel, Manhattan Beach

The date: Oct. 14, 2017. The place: The Athenaeum, Pasadena. Christina & Ryan were married by Rev. Ralph under the large Jacaranda tree on the beautiful grounds adjacent to the California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech). It was a beautiful warm day, but comfortable in the shade. Wedding coordinator Samantha Sisk or La Bella Dia events had everything under control. A talented string quartet provided a romantic mood, and the proverbial knot was tied in joyous fashion!

It was a real pleasure for me to be invited to celebrate this weekend with Maria Alindogan and Jeff Rivera who got married at Los Willows Private Estate in the rolling hills of northern San Diego County.  This beautiful young couple and their dog Charlie (the ring bearer) welcomed family and friends from near and far to celebrate their special day with them.

The venue is among the most beautiful I have ever visited.  With a private lake, outside seating with gas fire pits, a beautiful covered pavilion, and a shady meadow, the setting was ideal for a late fall wedding as the sun dipped behind the hills and cool shadow enveloped the small valley.

This lovely couple choose to celebrate an abbreviated version of the Catholic Rite of Marriage Outside of Mass.  In addition to using the traditional vows of the Church, the couple wrote vows to one another which, once recited, left not a dry eye in the house.  I really enjoyed meeting this couple’s families and friends who were welcoming, kind, and eager to show their love and support for Maria and Jeff as they declared “themselves to be a family before their families, friends, and God.”  May they have a long and happy life together!

Check out these three weddings Frank performed, one at the Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel in Buena Park, one at the Tivoli Terrace in Laguna Beach, and one at the Mountain Meadows Golf Course in Pomona

Congratulations to Asssumpta Batac & Hin Chau on their Saturday, September 16, 2017 wedding at the Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel in Buena Park, CA.  It was a beautiful day as their 250+ guests began arriving at the hotel.  The ceremony was conducted in the courtyard, as was the cocktail hour, followed by the reception in the ballroom on the upper level.  Music was supplied by a wonderful string duo.  The ceremony began as scheduled with the groom escorted by his parents, followed by the bridal party, then the bride, who was met at the beginning of the aisle by her parents and escorted to the alter and presented to her “soon to be” husband.  The ceremony included a Unity Candle and a Rose presentation to their mothers, as well as a special scripture reading and a “short” sermon at the request of the couple.  My very best to Assumpta and Hin as they begin their life-long journey together!

Congratulations to Hiromi Sugano and Alvin Cara on their Saturday, September 23, 2017 wedding at the Tivoli Terrace in Laguna Beach, CA.  It was a simple, yet “Classy” ceremony with about 100 guests and lasted about fifteen minutes.  Ceremony music was provided by a pianist, which added elegance.  The brides entrance up the stairs with her dad was “royal.”  The couple greeted their guests for some pictures and the cake cutting immediately after the ceremony.  Afterwhich the new Mr. & Mrs. and bridal party returned for pictures while guests enjoyed cocktails, which was followed by the reception on the terrace level.

Congratulations to Griselda Salazar & Mario Garcia on their Friday, September 29, 2017 wedding at the Mountain Meadows Golf Club in Pomona, CA.  It was a beautiful day for a wedding.  Everything was perfect, and went as planned!  The coordinator had everything down to a science.  Even the music was queued perfectly (supplied by “DJ” Officiant Frank), which included 30 minutes of pre-ceremony soft music while the guests were arriving and being seated.  Their ceremony also included their Personal Vows, the Wine Cup and Rose presentation to their mothers.  Some “teary-eyed” moments from the heart!  My very best to the happy couple.

Stacey has three great weddings: Palisades Park in Santa Monica, Ontario Hotel, and Upland Hills Country Club

Their love story began with a simple friendship. A Facebook friendship. Jory admitted that when she first accepted her now-husband’s friend request on FB back in 2007 she immediately crushed on him. She quietly kept track of his status through photos and updates. Through a series of “coincidences” their virtual friendship became an actual frelationship. Fast-forward ten years: her once-skeptical family of her internet romance are now solid believers in the transcendent power of Facebook.

About 20 family members, both sets of parents, step parents, cousins and siblings assembled at Palisades Park for this ceremony on August 26.

Family members joined Officiant Stacey Newsome in blessing the couple with this  prayer they wrote for the occasion:

Bless their marriage, O God, as they begin their journey down the road of life together. We don’t know what lies ahead for the road turns and bends. But help them to make the best of whatever comes their way.

Help them to continue to enjoy each other as they did when they first met. Help them to realize that nothing nor no one is perfect and to look for the good in all things and all people including themselves.

Help them to respect each other’s likes and dislikes, opinions and beliefs, hopes and dreams and fears even though they may not always understand them.

Help them to learn from each other and to help each other to grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Help them to realize that no matter what happens to them they will hold on to each other and know that things have a way of working out for the good.

Help them to create for their children a peaceful, stable home of love as a foundation on which they can build their lives.

But most of all, dear God, help them to keep lit the torch of love’ that they now share so that by their loving example they may pass on the light of love to their children and to their children’s children forever.

Family members then deposited personal messages and cash gifts into a keepsake box the couple will open on their anniversary. Though, they admit the cash will likely not live in the box the entire year!

It was my pleasure to officiate this lovely ceremony and I wish them many, many happy years together.

From the Tennessee Valley to the San Gabriel Valley, it may have been a job transfer that brought this couple from the South to the West, but it’s love and and a desire for a warm-weather vacation that brought their family here for the occasion.

Scott and Nicole held an intimate ceremony at the Ontario Hotel and Convention Center. Scott says Los Angeles would not feel like home unless his long-time girlfriend Nicole joined him in the next phase of his life. Being from the South myself, I felt the warmth of their Southern Hospitality. They made me feel like an member of their big ol’ friendly family!!

On a crisp and clear afternoon in Upland, CA at the Upland Hills Country Club the friends and family of this well-loved couple gathered to celebrate their love for each other.

Laurie and Dominique exchanged vows they wrote especially for each other. From the moment they met, Laurie says she knew she could love Dominique for the rest of her life. Dominique promised to be the right partner-one who loves, comforts and protects her partner. The entire gathering got a glimpse into how the two had each others backs as they lovingly wiped errant eyelashes and tears from each other’s glowing faces.

About 135 witnesses to their love cheered them on when the rings were displayed and the deal was sealed with a kiss.

Congrats!

Suvin Performed three weddings, one at the Mission Inn in Riverside, one at Waterfront Park in San Diego, and one at the Surf and Sand in Laguna Beach

The Mission Inn in Riverside is such a cool venue. It has an almost medieval feel to it! The couple was so happy, they wanted something short and sweet, with some epic references. It was a picture perfect day for a summer wedding in Riverside. The Bride walked down the aisle to heavy metal. They looked into each other’s eyes with love the whole ceremony. Congrats to the happy couple!

Melanie and Jonathan are such an awesome couple. On a beautiful August day, they tied the knot at Waterfront Park in San Diego. San Diego is such a cool town, I love doing ceremonies down there. Waterfront Park is a beautiful location near downtown San Diego. It is almost secretly nestled near the water and downtown.

They had a beautiful Christian based ceremony. I performed it complete with some bible readings, and some jokes to make it light hearted. The couple wrote their own vows as well, which added such a nice personal touch.

Congrats to the happy couple!

Antoinett and Jaime are such a loving couple! They had their ceremony at the picturesque Surf and Sand in Laguna Beach. It was a warm August Saturday, but there was a nice breeze to balance out the heat. As you can see from the view, Surf and Sand is one of our favorite places! Look at that amazing view of the ocean.

They had an amazing love story. Almost in Brady Bunch fashion, they met because of their kids! The older kids went to the same school and knew each other, and set their parents up! Their children served as their wedding party, and I made a special mention at the beginning of the ceremony about how this all happened because of the kids and had everyone give them a round of applause.

A beautiful day for a beautiful couple, congrats!

Roger has three weddings, one at Coyote Hills Golf Club in Fullerton, at the Double Tree in San Pedro, and at the Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach

Roger had the pleasure of marrying Jason & Katie this last weekend at the always spot on and professional Coyote Hills Golf Club in Fullerton.  It was rather fitting that Jason and Katie marry at a golf course because that met in golf college and both make their living in the world of golf !  They are a truly amazing couple who couldn’t wait for this day to happen.  They both laughed and cried during the ceremony and it was a wonderful day.  And Jason and Katie added something most unusual to their ceremony, something Roger had never heard of…. It’s called the Lovelock Tree Of Life Ceremony.  It’s presented as this beautiful framed tree that holds places for “lovelocks” that represent major moments in their lives.  The locks have no keys and cannot be opened.  Their first lock was presented by both parents and was locked onto the Tree Of Live right then and there during the ceremony.  It was a beautiful touch to a perfect wedding.

Roger had the pleasure of marrying Robert & Christine this last weekend at the Double Tree Hotel in San Pedro.  A beautiful small hotel just off the water.  And Rob & Christine, although only having a handful of guests, wanted it memorable.  Roger told them not to worry, that is the only kind of wedding he does.  And Roger had a lot of fun with this one.  You see, Robert is with the CIA and Roger asked him if he should mention that or not and Robert said he had nothing to hide ha !  So Roger pulled out the stops and gave the a fun filled wedding with lots of laughs and tears !  It truly was a perfect, intimate wedding.  And Roger passed the background check too !

Roger had his comedy skills tested that last weekend when he had the very fun job of officiating the wedding for Dennis & Krystyna at the Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach.  Now Roger knew from the first time he met with Dennis & Krystyna that Dennis was a joker…..big time !  And every time Dennis would throw out a joke at the planning meeting, Krystyna would just roll her eyes.   She was used to his comedy ways and expected no less of it at the wedding. And boy oh boy did he deliver !  All thru the ceremony Dennis had funny lines and comments, mostly only that Kyrstyna and Roger could hear, so both Krystyna and Roger had to keep their wits about them in order to get thru the wedding !  All in all, it was the perfect wedding and Dennis is missing his calling as a comedian !

Wesley had three awesome weddings at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs, Calamigos Equestrian in Burbank, and the San Dimas Golf Course

Tim and Stephanie were wed at the infamous Ace Hotel in Palm Spriings. Tim had friends and family fly in from England, while Stephanie had all her friends and family fly in from New York, where this couple met. Needless to say, it was a classy affair. New York is where they both discovered and realized their love for Habañero Margaritas. It’s also the city they love, and where they reside. The whole event was stylish, and even a bit Hipster-ish. All they needed was a live performance from the Killers.

Wedding Planner – Nicole Alexandra Gillis – Nicole Alexandra Events

Kaleena and Mike were united at the beautiful and unique Calamigos Equestrian in Burbank. Even though they were young, they have  devoted and developed their relationship over 5 years of being together. They also both have a love and respect for each other’s cultures, as we had a Lasso Ceremony celebrated in Mexican Culture for Kaleena, and an Irish prayer at the end for Mike. It was a beautiful union of two souls!

So Janette and Eddie, aka Her Worshipfulness and the Scoundrel, love Star Wars. So we definitely mentioned the Death Star destroying anyone who objected to their wedding. They also wanted their two cats, Wilson and Dexter to feel included so we did a short Family Unity ceremony with them as well! Janette and Eddie love each other so much, and could just be themselves with each other. It also showed in the way Eddie proposed to her. They took a helicopter to the top of a Glacier in Alaska! It was lighthearted and fun at the San Dimas Golf Course, and I am sure they will not witness such a unique ceremony for some time to come!

Check out these three weddings at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu, the Piru Mansion in Fillmore, and the Portofino Hotel in Redondo Beach

Roger had the honor of marrying Andrew & Marie this last Sunday at the always wonderful Calamigos Ranch in Malibu.  And it was at his favorite spot there, the Oaks Room !  This amazing location at the ranch overlooks an extraordinary waterfall and is the perfect place to marry the person of your dreams !  It was going to be a fun filled wedding and best of all, their love-of-their-life dog who they call Bear was going to be there to celebrate with them.  Now Bear is a beautiful Golden Retriever and she was incredibly excited to be part of the action that day !  So much that at the exact moment Roger asked for the rings from the best man, Bear decided that she would jump up and help facilitate the handing of the rings to Roger !!  Needless to say, standing next to a waterfall with rings being bounced around made for great fun !!  But all turned out and the wedding went off without a hitch.  And best of all, Bear stole the show !

Roger had the honor of marrying Matt & Jill this last weekend at the beautiful Piru Mansion in Fillmore.  It was a perfect day, the weather was stunning, and Roger had a great time with the audience.  They were a fun group all there to celebrate this adorable couple Matt & Jill.

Roger had the honor of marrying Sheldon & Christine at the ever so beautiful Portofino Hotel & Yacht Club in Redondo Beach this last weekend.  It is a beautiful place to marry, overlooking the bay.  And it is such a nice location, the local seals also find it very appealing.  So Roger always tells his couples that they may hear a few squawks from the local seal residents during the ceremony.  When Roger got there, the groom mentioned that it was surprisingly quiet from the seal community that day and that on their rehearsal day, they were in full swing!  Roger told him that maybe they would get lucky !  Not so fast…….  No sooner did the music start to play for the processional, so did the seals join in for their part of the song !  And they never stopped !  It was actually quite amusing watching Roger trying to dodge the sound effects of the “additional guests” !  But Roger, the trooper he was, gave a wonderful ceremony albeit a very noisy one !
