Hispanic and Armenian Heritage…Gevol and Evelyn

Image

Evelyn Benitez and Gevol (Joe) Kirpeichyan were united in marriage in a beautiful wedding by the shore of Casa de Lago in Orange. ¬†They wished to include in the ceremony tributes to their respective Hispanic and Armenian heritage. ¬†So at the planning meeting in the home of Rev. Dr. Gary Barmore, who was secured for them by Great Officiants of Long Beach, they developed a sequence to occur after the exchange of vows: ¬†kneeling pillows brought by nieces, a double-looped lasso brought by Evelyn’s family, ¬†and golden crowns presented by Joe’s family. ¬†Rev. Gary explained the significance of each symbol and then offered a prayer of God’s blessing while a cross was held over the kneeling couple. ¬†Gary reminded the guests that because Joe and Evelyn were uniting in marriage, this made all of them “one family” ¬†or “una familia para este familia” or …(he apologized for not saying it in Armenian). ¬†Everyone then went into the air-conditioned ball-room for more beautiful traditions and celebrations.

One Beautiful and Emotional Wedding

Image

Thai and Nikki at The Hacienda in Santa Ana

Roger was really looking forward to officiating the wedding of Thai and Nikki this last weekend.  It was held at one of Roger‚Äôs favorite venues, the Hacienda in Santa Ana.  After meeting with Thai and Nikki, Roger knew that it was going to be an emotional wedding and wanted to make sure that he kept a good balance of checked emotion and fun throughout the ceremony.

And that was a good plan because no sooner did they begin, then tears starting rolling down Thai‚Äôs face and right after, Nikki‚Äôs face.  So Roger kept them on track and spiced it us with a few well placed funny moments to get them to smile and it worked!  A perfect blend of a fun and romantic wedding!

Two Down, One To Go…

Image

The wedding of Lovensky and Valeria was an especially important wedding to Roger. Not only were Lovensky and Valeria really special people and Roger knew that they were truly meant to marry, but Roger had also married Lovensky‚Äôs brother Reginald just last year! At this last weekend’s wedding, Reginald and Lovensky‚Äôs mother came up to Roger and thanked him again for officiating her two son‚Äôs weddings and said when ever her youngest son decided to stop “playing the field‚ÄĚ and settle down and get married, she would want Roger to officiate that wedding as well.  Roger told her he would be honored and that would be a record for him.  Roger has married two sisters and two brothers, but never three!

2 Down…

The mother also said if Roger could hint to the youngest brother about at least thinking about changing his bachelor ways, it would be greatly appreciated… Roger said he had it handled! Now mind you everyone was on board with this idea. I guess the younger brother‚Äôs playboy ways were notorious… So at the conclusion of the ceremony, just after Roger pronounced them husband and wife, he completed the ceremony by saying ‚ÄúTwo Down, One To Go‚ÄĚ!  The crowd went crazy and the younger brother got the well intended hint!!

Three Weddings From all over, one at the Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach, one at the Athenaeum in Pasadena, and one at Los Willows Private Estate in San Diego

Image

Robert, Trina and I had very little time to get to know each other. So I immediately set up a time to discuss what exactly what they wanted for their ceremony. They both reside in Houston, TX, so as a fellow Texan we all got along so well. As we started the planning process, the news came of Hurricane Harvey. It was set to hit Houston hard, and bring devastating flooding. I only imagined what this couple went through. They were worried for their homes and their personal safety, and the safety of their friends and family. I did whatever I could to bring them some peace and comfort during this insanely challenging time for them. To say they handled it well is an understatement. They were troopers, they never let the situation get the best of them. They stood strong. I was truly blessed to get to know them and celebrate this very special day with them, to find such a beautiful bright sunbeam in the midst of all the devastating natural disaster.

Day of Coordinator – Jennifer Cooper

Shade Hotel, Manhattan Beach

The date: Oct. 14, 2017. The place: The Athenaeum, Pasadena. Christina & Ryan were married by Rev. Ralph under the large Jacaranda tree on the beautiful grounds adjacent to the California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech). It was a beautiful warm day, but comfortable in the shade. Wedding coordinator Samantha Sisk or La Bella Dia events had everything under control. A talented string quartet provided a romantic mood, and the proverbial knot was tied in joyous fashion!

It was a real pleasure for me to be invited to celebrate this weekend with Maria Alindogan and Jeff Rivera who got married at Los Willows Private Estate in the rolling hills of northern San Diego County.  This beautiful young couple and their dog Charlie (the ring bearer) welcomed family and friends from near and far to celebrate their special day with them.

The venue is among the most beautiful I have ever visited.  With a private lake, outside seating with gas fire pits, a beautiful covered pavilion, and a shady meadow, the setting was ideal for a late fall wedding as the sun dipped behind the hills and cool shadow enveloped the small valley.

This lovely couple choose to celebrate an abbreviated version of the Catholic Rite of Marriage Outside of Mass.¬† In addition to using the traditional vows of the Church, the couple wrote vows to one another which, once recited, left not a dry eye in the house.¬† I really enjoyed meeting this couple’s families and friends who were welcoming, kind, and eager to show their love and support for Maria and Jeff as they declared “themselves to be a family before their families, friends, and God.”¬† May they have a long and happy life together!Share This Post:

Roger Rocks Three Ceremonies: one at the Taglyan Complex in Los Angeles, one at the Quiet Cannon in Montebello, and one at Castaways in Burbank

Image

As we all know, Southern California has been testing our comfort limits with the recent heat waves.  And this last weekend really was a doozy.  Roger had the honor of marrying Henry & Kat this last weekend at the incredible Taglyan Complex in Los Angeles.  This is one of the most amazing wedding venues, top shelf staff, beautiful lighting, everything……..except a way to keep an outside wedding cool !  The poor groom Henry was not only nervous but doing an awful lot of perspiring………. But he was a trooper because he was marrying the love of his life !

Roger was honored to be part of this wonderful, romantic wedding this last Saturday for Kendrick & Lauren.  It was held at the always amazing Quiet Cannon in Montebello.  Now Kendrick & Lauren are a fun loving couple and the groom Kendrick is big time into comics, movies and especially Star Wars !  So Roger delivered!!  Is was both fun and romantic and Roger, who has learned from the best, his boss Alan Katz, added in some pizazz theme commentary for the groom !  It was a wedding too remember, even for the imperial storm troopers !!

Roger officiated a wonderful wedding this last weekend at Castaways in Burbank.  Now even though Castaways is closed for renovations, they still had their hands full with three weddings all happening at the same time.  But Castaways always has their act together and everything went smooth for all three weddings !  And as for the wedding couple, Joshua & Kysstina, they are in incredibly loving couple who really wanted their guests to have as much fun as they were planning to have.  So they asked Roger to pull out all the stops….and Roger did indeed !  It was a perfect wedding except for one very little, tiny if you will, problem……One enterprising gnat that would not leave Roger or Joshua alone !  All during Roger’s reading, this gnat, was constantly buzzing Roger’s ear and Roger really had to concentrate and not show his displeasure with this uninvited guest…And once Joshua started reading his own vows, the gnat actually then went over too Joshua and gave him the buzzing treatment too !  Joshua had to swat him away just to get thru his moving speech.  Other than that, the wedding was perfect !Share This Post:

Check out these three weddings Frank performed, one at the Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel in Buena Park, one at the Tivoli Terrace in Laguna Beach, and one at the Mountain Meadows Golf Course in Pomona

Congratulations to Asssumpta Batac & Hin Chau on their Saturday, September 16, 2017 wedding at the Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel in Buena Park, CA.¬† It was a beautiful day as their 250+ guests began arriving at the hotel.¬† The ceremony was conducted in the courtyard, as was the cocktail hour, followed by the reception in the ballroom on the upper level.¬† Music was supplied by a wonderful string duo.¬† The ceremony began as scheduled with the groom escorted by his parents, followed by the bridal party, then the bride, who was met at the beginning of the aisle by her parents and escorted to the alter and presented to her “soon to be” husband.¬† The ceremony included a Unity Candle and a Rose presentation to their mothers, as well as a special scripture reading and a “short” sermon at the request of the couple.¬† My very best to Assumpta and Hin as they begin their life-long journey together! ¬†¬†

Congratulations to Hiromi Sugano and Alvin Cara on their Saturday, September 23, 2017 wedding at the Tivoli Terrace in Laguna Beach, CA.¬† It was a simple, yet “Classy” ceremony with about 100 guests and lasted about fifteen minutes.¬† Ceremony music was provided by a pianist, which added elegance.¬† The brides entrance up the stairs with her dad was “royal.”¬† The couple greeted their guests for some pictures and the cake cutting immediately after the ceremony.¬† Afterwhich the new Mr. & Mrs. and bridal party returned for pictures while guests enjoyed cocktails, which was followed by the reception on the terrace level.

Congratulations to Griselda Salazar & Mario Garcia on their Friday, September 29, 2017 wedding at the Mountain Meadows Golf Club in Pomona, CA.¬† It was a beautiful day for a wedding.¬† Everything was perfect, and went as planned!¬† The coordinator had everything down to a science.¬† Even the music was queued perfectly (supplied by “DJ” Officiant Frank), which included 30 minutes of pre-ceremony soft music while the guests were arriving and being seated.¬† Their ceremony also included their Personal Vows, the Wine Cup and Rose presentation to their mothers.¬† Some “teary-eyed” moments from the heart!¬† My very best to the happy couple.Share This Post:
