Congratulations to Kristina Munz & Lawrence Koester on their January 7, 2017 at the Mission Inn in Riverside, CA.  It was an intimate ceremony in the beautiful chapel of St. Francis of Assisi.  They added the Unity Candle and had an organist for the ceremony music.  The organ always adds a special touch in the chapel as the sound echoes and amplifies throughout the building!  After the ceremony the couple and their 40-50 guests headed for cocktails and a great dinner as only the Mission Inn can present.

Great Officiant Greg had the honor of marrying Sassan Vincent and Julia Teresa Jafari on April; 9th at the fabulous and historic Mission Inn and Spa in Riverside, California.  What a unbelievable venue!  The Inn is a National Historical Landmark, and must be seen to fully believe it’s beauty, elegance, and historical significance.  The St Francis Chapel, the site of the wedding,  is something one would usually see only in Italy, Spain or France!  The ceremony, including a “double” unity candle by their mothers and the happy couple was a wonderful and loving touch.  All their family and friends commented on the great ceremony by Reverend Greg.

All of us at Great Officiants wish Sassan Vincent and Julia Teresa much love and happiness in their future life together.

How to do a unity candle at an outdoor wedding ceremony.

How to do a unity candle ceremony outside.

The unity candle is a tried and true addition to many wedding ceremony. It can be beautiful and it can also be terrible. By following a few simple rules you can prevent that part of your ceremony from as we say fizzling out.

If you’re doing a unity candle indoors there’s never usually an issue and you can use any type or shape of candles.  When you light the candle outdoors, it presents several obstacles to take into consideration:

1. The wind is not your friend.

Even the slightest breeze can snuff out the most robust flame.

2.The lighter is not your friend.

Try to use hurricane style candle holders as they block the wind in most cases. Instead of a lighter which never works properly when you wanted to, put a small votive candle in a holder and light the outer candles off of that during the ceremony.

Put the unity candle at the very end of the ceremony this way if it does blow out it’s not out for a long time.

Keep a lighter handy as back up. Make sure that no decorations are placed directly above the candles as they could catch fire.

In the event that you feel that it may be too windy switch to a sand blending ceremony or other type of unity celebration.

With proper planning and precautions, a unity candle celebration can be one of the highlights of the ceremony and if done wrong it will definitely be something that everyone will remember.

New Year’s Eve Wedding at Our Cute Little Wedding Chapel

Our Cute Little Wedding Chapel
This was such a beautiful and happy couple. After being together for 15 years, they decided to get married in Our Cute Little Wedding Chapel by Suvin. They wanted to be married before the end of the year, and we were happy to help!

Yvonne and Lucy had such a positive attitude. They had just come back from Hawaii, so we were joking about how they went on their honeymoon before their marriage! Our Tropical Terrace outside provided for some beautiful and relevant pictures after the ceremony with its island feel.

It was a heartfelt ceremony, surrounded by their friends and family. Lucy and Yvonne were so in love, they got all choked up during the vows! I told the crowd to give them a hand to help them along, they did wonderful. They even incorporated a family unity candle with their two children.

We all had a wonderful time, with a ceremony filled with laughs, tears, and cheers! Afterwards, they went to Downtown LA to have dinner and to ring in the new year as one big happy family.

Jorge & Daniel’s wedding and reception took place at Luminarias in Monterey Park

Jorge & Daniel’s wedding and reception took place at Luminarias in Monterey Park. Both were held inside one of their ball rooms which allowed us to perform the unity candle, one of my favorite traditions!

We adapted our Catholic lite ceremony to their needs by customizing it and translating it to Spanish.

Before we began the ceremony I had the opportunity to sit down and spend some quality time with Jorge’s mom, Marta, who is the sweetest and kindest lady ever! She kept insisting that I stayed for the reception, which I would’ve loved, but had a rehearsal to get to.

It truly is a higher level experience when we have some extra time to bond with family members and friends!

Jorge and Daniel I wish you both all the blessings in the world and send you all my love! Thank you for allowing me to be part of your big day!

Another Match.com Success Story at the Monterey Hill Restaurant in Monterey Park

It was another match.com success story!! José and Gail. were united in marriage on Friday, October 23 at the Monterey Hill restaurant and party venue in Monterey Park California. They had been dating for two years and knew that the time was right. They had a beautiful ceremony with family and friends including a unity candle lighting with all the blended family. It was a lovely day overlooking all of Los Angeles at sunset while listing to a live Jazz trio. Gail looked absolutely beautiful in her shimmering wedding gown and Jose looking very dapper in his Tux with all the bridal party. The ceremony was followed by a lovely cocktail party and dinner. The DJ was ready to spin some festive tunes to dance the night away! May this beautiful couple and family forever remain united with the love they all share. Congrats to Jose  and Gail!

A Beautifully Decorated Ceremony from the Heart at Coyote Hills Golf Club in Fullerton

suvin1
Justin and Angela had nowhere to turn, they were looking for a traditional Indian ceremony, fused with some traditional American customs, and a reading from the Bible. Many Hindu Pundits even turned them down because they had tattoos.

This truly saddened me.

In this day and age, there was still discrimination against how someone looked or how they chose to live their lives. Suvin representing Great Officiants, was more than happy to help this beautiful couple.

At the beautiful Coyote Hills Golf Club, I provided a traditional ceremony, in full garb, starting with a prayer, a garland exchange, a unity candle, and ending with their custom written vows.

They laughed at the appropriate and well placed jokes, they cried at the romantic elements, they smiled at the love being shared.
