Awesome awesome awesome couple!!! They were so funny from the minute we met. I was entertained by their wit all the way!

Peter & Karissa got hitched at Hotel Maya in Long Beach, one of my favorite venues. From the staff, to the scenic  backdrops the location provides, this place is excellent for weddings and events.

We did a fully bilingual wedding ceremony. I had Karissa do her vows, I do’s, and ring exchange in Spanish and Peter’s in English. When my couples are able to do this it makes the ceremony more balanced, not having more English than Spanish or vice versa.

We also performed the Lasso and Coin ceremonies, a.k.a. Lazo y Arras. We also, to keep the ceremony well balanced, did the coin ceremony in Spanish and the Lasso ceremony in English.

You know you’ve reached a certain level of expertise when one of my groomsmen was also a groomsman at a wedding I officiated a year before! And we were both so happy to be able to do this once again!!!

A Perfect Family

IMG_0783

Erica & Leticia tied the knot at 72nd Pl. in Long Beach. They chose one of our beach packages and the set up is absolutely beautiful! Even though it was a rainy day in Southern California it did not stop us from having a beautiful ceremony.

The beautiful couple lives in Texas therefore we were never able to meet in person while working together to design the perfect ceremony for them. We originally had a FaceTime meeting and then after that were in constant communication over texts, emails, and phone calls. The end result was a bilingual ceremony with our sand ceremony and also a necklace and ring presentation for Leticia's son, Gabriel, symbolizing how important he is to both of them and how much they love him! Gabriel also participated in the sand ceremony so instead of having two individual containers of sand we had three, representing each of them.

I also said some words paying respect Leticia's parents who are no longer with us but were there in spirit. This was followed by a brief moment of silence in honor to them. Since they were not present Leticia decided to present Erica's parents with roses and a handkerchief representing the love and appreciation she has for them.

I customized their ceremony to represent the beautiful couple and their son to a T. It was truly a very personal and unique ceremony!

Leticia, Erica, and Gabriel I wish you all nothing but love and all the blessings in the world! Thank you for giving me the honor of officiating a beautiful ceremony for such an amazing love story!

A Contemporary Church in Etiwanda Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga

IMG_0488
Diego and Milly's wedding took place inside a beautiful contemporary church located in Etiwanda Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga. We met about a week before their wedding and they originally wanted a Spanish ceremony. But during our meeting I learned that the reason they wanted a Spanish ceremony was because, like most couples, they did not know exactly how a bilingual ceremony would come out.

Most of my couples think that in bilingual ceremonies I repeat everything in both languages. This would be extremely repetitive and monotonous. The way I do bilingual ceremonies is by saying one or two paragraphs in English and the following one or two in Spanish without losing meaning or symbolism behind the message and also making everything flow evenly. Once I explain this to all my couples 99.9% of the time they decide to go with the bilingual ceremony.

This was the case with Diego and Milly. The end result was our "My Favorite" ceremony bilingual. It was very beautiful and not too long or too short!

Diego and Milly, thank you for granting me the honor of officiating your wedding ceremony! You guys are amazing! I wish you both nothing but love in all the blessings in the world!

Octavio performs Three Bilingual Ceremonies Across the County!

1
Jake & Maria got married at the Rose Garden in downtown LA. This is such a beautiful location, and it is so big that it's very easy to have a private ceremony even if the park is crowded.

Jake & Maria wanted a bilingual ceremony but Jake doesn't speak or understand much Spanish. In these situations we can still do a bilingual ceremony but since most of it is for the couple to understand I have to be careful and not translate too much so that both of them understand the message we dedicate to them.

Jake brought a wireless speaker which I used to control the music and a tripod to record the ceremony with this phone. When I saw him setting up the phone and tripod I offered to use my phone since it records at 60 frames per second. I gave him a little sample video so that he could see the quality and he was sold!

We used my phone to record the entire ceremony which lasted 15 minutes. Their ceremony was slightly bilingual and we did our "My Favorite" ceremony. They also wrote their own vows, which by the way were absolutely beautiful and touching, and I introduced the "Best Woman," who is Jake's best friend, to come up and dedicate a beautiful and heartfelt message for the happy couple!

Jake and Maria are such a sweet couple and they clearly love each other so much! I wish you guys all the blessings in the world and send you all my love!

Ana Arely & Mario tied the knot at Hurst Ranch in West Covina. I've done several weddings at this location and they have all been outdoors. But this one was held indoors in their big ballroom. This was wonderful because the couple wanted to keep the ceremony traditional and we did not want to replace the unity candle with the sand ceremony.

We met a few months before the wedding and I fell absolutely in love with them! Mario & Ana Arely are the kind of people that just make you feel as part of their family from the minute they meet you and hug you. When I arrived to their wedding they gave me the same kind of love. It was so cool!

We did our Catholic Lite ceremony with the Coin, Lasso, and Unity Candle entirely in Spanish. The couple were so happy and are so in love that they could not contain their tears. It was so touching to see tears of joy and love!

Mario & Ana Arely, you guys are such an amazing couple and have such kind souls!!!! We need more people like you in this world! I wish you both all the blessings in the world and send you all my love and hugs!

Words cannot begin to describe how much I love Andrea and Bryan! This is one of the couples that I have worked with the most as we were in constant communication from the moment we met up until the day of their wedding. And they were both always in such a happy and excited mood!

Their wedding and reception took place at Porter Valley Country Club in Northridge. This was my first wedding at that location and it is absolutely gorgeous! I would love to do more weddings there!

I have such a special bond with this couple and when I got to their wedding I bonded exactly the same way with their parents! Both of their parents are so cool and so much fun! I would've loved to stay for the reception and spend more time with them and their families!

As you can see in the picture Andrea and Bryan looked like Hollywood royalty, even when they are not dressed for a wedding! I felt like I was marrying two models taken out of a Vogue magazine!

The ceremony was a bilingual Catholic Lite and we also incorporated the Mothers Rose presentation and the Lasso ritual. Every word that came out of my mouth was incredibly heartfelt as I had the privilege of enjoying the love they have for one another through their eyes, smiles, and tears of joy!

Andrea & Bryan, I am honored and forever grateful that you guys granted me the opportunity to officiate your wedding ceremony and be a part of such an amazing love story! I wish you both all the blessings in the world and send you all my love and hugs!

A Great Combination at the Oviatt Penthouse in Downtown LA

IMG_0392
I could not have come up with a better combination if I had tried! Brian and Diana got married at the Oviatt penthouse in downtown LA which in itself has the vibe of the 20s.

Their theme song was "I Remember" by Deadmau5! It all matched 100% perfectly! The ceremony was a bilingual Catholic Lite ceremony with the Mothers Rose presentation. When I got to the wedding The DJ told me the couple wanted to be pronounced when their theme song exploded. He and I worked together in figuring out when I would queue him in since the song has a 30 second build up before that part comes. We pulled it off!

Brian and Diana found me through Great Officiants thanks to Brian's mom. We met a week before their wedding, which is more than enough time for any of us to design a beautiful and perfect ceremony for you, and of course the end result was Great!

Brian and Diana thank you guys for making my experience so fun and exciting! You guys are amazing! I wish you all the blessings in the world and all my love!

Octavio Customizes a Lovely Ceremony for a Lovely Couple at Luminarias in Monterey Park

IMG_0269
Cynthia & Tony are a rocking couple! The three of us were together at , like I do with most of my couples, in designing a custom my ceremony. The end result was a bilingual ceremony at Luminarias with a few tweaks that represented the couple in a more personal way.

Cynthia and Tony both love tequila! So we decided to do the wine ceremony but instead of doing it with wine we changed the words and made it with tequila.  It was both customized in hilarious! When we got to that part of the ceremony and I started saying the words all the wedding guests started laughing out loud!

Tony acted like a veteran! He sprained his ankle a couple of months before the wedding, and had to have surgery. Even though he could barely stand, let alone walk, he still walked down the aisle and stood there throughout the ceremony. He even held their baby through the beginning of the ceremony! I don't know how he did it but my guess is that the love he has for Cynthia is so strong that it completely blocked out any pain he was feeling.

They both looked so amazing! The minute I saw them holding hands and looking into each others eyes, the words just started pouring out of me! Cindy and Tony I wish you both all the blessings in the world and my love to you and your family! Tony I hope your recovery is fast and you're able to be back on your feet ASAP!

A Cool Couple at the Rooftop of the Oviatt Penthouse in Downtown LA

IMG_0266
Irene & Jesse are the coolest couple!!! Their wedding took place at the rooftop of the Oviatt penthouse in downtown LA. Because it's a rooftop it can get pretty windy sometimes.

Their marriage license was left on the second level of the rooftop while we did the ceremony. The plan was to go up there after the ceremony to sign it with the witnesses so we could take beautiful pictures. But when we got up there the wind had blown the marriage license away and it was nowhere to be found! The bridal party, photographers, wedding coordinator, bride and groom, and me were looking all over for it like crazy. Eventually One of the bridesmaids spotted it on the roof of the building next door under an AC unit.

We had to send a fire marshal next door to access the roof of the building and get the marriage license which took a while. Throughout this entire process Irene and Jesse remained so calmed and cool about the whole thing. They were not going to let absolutely anything ruin their magical wedding and such a special day! They are awesome!

They also have such an amazing sense of humor! You should've seen them dance to the tune of hip-hop as they were marching out of the ceremony. It was so funny and so beautiful!

The three of us worked together to design a bilingual ceremony, actually I take that back. Irene is a genius with words and she wrote a lot of the ceremony herself. They also wrote their own vows in both English and Spanish!

It is safe to say that I will never forget this wedding! Filled with surprises, love, and much laughter! Irene and Jesse, never change! You are both amazing and I admire you so much! I wish you both all the blessings in the world! Hugs!

PS The Best man took a picture of Jesse proposing to Irene under a waterfall in Arizona and made it the official beer bottle label for all the beers in the wedding! You can see it in one of the pictures. I had never seen something like that and it was amazing!
