Great Gazebo, Great View

When Jason and Jamie’s Mom called me looking for a cool place with an ocean view in the South Bay area to have a small ceremony…. This is the place I recommended. Roessler Point in the Malaga cove area of Palos Verdes. It is a nice little gazebo with a killer view of the entire south bay.

It was just them and 5 guests and it couldn’t have been more perfect.

The “Lost Memories”

It was a busy day today in the Chapel as we had three weddings! The first two were a “Quickie” couple as we like to call them at the Edgewater. They were issued both couples the Marriage License and performed a quick Ceremony.

We also had a full Christian Ceremony later in the afternoon for Stacie and Christopher. Both the bride and groom were very loving, fun and outgoing. The Chapel was at max capacity with 25 of their closest friends and family. They performed the Sand Ceremony, which is similar to the Unity Candle, and is very popular for Beach Weddings. Stacie had a problem with getting her fair share of sand in the container, there was red sand all over the floor! “Those are the Lost Memories” we said. That’s what we call “lost sand” that can’t fit into the container.

Congratulations to all 3 happy couples!

Beautiful Day for A Friendly Hills Wedding and the Sun Smiled thru

They say that rain on your wedding day is good luck……but just not during it !!

Well, that was what Roger and his bride & groom, Anita and Bill and were worried about the weather last weekend when they were getting married at Friendly Hills Country Club!

There were storm clouds all morning long, but just about an hour before the ceremony, all the clouds parted leaving nothing but blue skies and a very happy wedding party !

And a party it was !!!

Not only a crazy-fun wedding ceremony, but a wild reception too !!!

The Chapel on a Saturday

Beatriz and Ronnie were a sweet couple visiting Long Beach. They met at Beatriz’s work, where she is a nurse and Ronnie works in the engineering department. We were told that Ronnie would hope things would break down in her office, so he could see her beautiful face!

Beatriz wore a beautiful form-fitting dress, which she shared her secret with the ladies in the office… only $80.00 off the rack on sale! Just a short and simple ceremony in the Chapel on Saturday, speaking of love and romance. Shhhh. Beatriz and Ronnie were keeping the wedding a secret until this morning!

Catherine and Jay were a last-minute walk in on Saturday. We always try to remember to ask the couple how they met… this was a first. They met at their auto mechanic!

We LOVE couples who have interesting stories behind their meetings, and these two were certainly some we will not soon forget.

Blind Couple Allows Us to See True Love

When Sal and Nunzia first made their appointment, I had no idea that they were both blind. They took public transportation from their home in Gardena to get here.

We sat down in my office and discussed what they wanted in the ceremony and brought them over to the chapel so that they could get a sense of what the chapel felt like. They booked their wedding for this past Saturday.

When I walked them back to the train the groom asked me, “Do you still say if there is any one here who has just cause…?” To which I replied, “Well this is what I will say for you… If there is any one here who has just cause that this couple should not be united, there’s the door… Go on, they won’t see you leave!” Where upon they both busted into laughter, and we used it in the ceremony.

During the ceremony I talked about a person’s senses; that when a person loses one sense, the other’s becomes heightened. In their case, the sense of “love” was heightened the most. Everyone seemed to enjoy the ceremony, as I could see the smile on their faces, Sal’s smile being the biggest of all. While it was a bit challenging to do a ceremony where sight is mentioned so often, we were able to allow them to see into each other soul, and know that their future is bright. We wish them great adventures together.
