Surprise wedding

The Ultimate Surprise

nicolederek
So you are hanging out with the family one weekend, enjoying a bit of R&R and swapping stories, and you notice Nicole and Derek have been missing for a little while now but you don’t think much of it. Suddenly they walk in and announce they’ve decided to have an impromptu wedding ceremony a few weeks before their big wedding in another state, and instruct you to line up the chairs to make an aisle. Then they introduce a charming young man, Wesley Crump as their Great Officiant presiding over the ceremony. There are laughs and tears, and Nicole and Derek tie the knot as not 1 or 2, but all 3 of their dogs lay at their feet, watching the whole spectacle. Not a bad way to spend the weekend!

I LOVE surprises! I had the opportunity to pull off a “surprise birthday party” into a wedding ceremony with none of the guests knowing it.

Nathaniel and Priscilla let me in on the secret and all of their guests thought that I was her boss from her job at Disney.  Once everybody was in the restaurant the Bride came walking in the front door in her beautiful dress and shocked everybody! I had the awesome opportunity of seeing everyone’s faces when it happened. It was a lot of fun and everyone had a great time!

Paul and Katherine Sewing traveled from the Midwest for a ceremony of marriage renewal scheduled for Sunday afternoon December 20 at the stunning venue of “Little Corona del Mar” in Newport Beach.  Paul (only telling Katherine that it was a family photo shoot) secretly secured from Great Officiants the services of Rev.Dr.Gary Barmore, and now all the family needed to be concerned about were the bands of rain showers striking Southern California.  Not to worry.  As this photo reveals, the coast was clear of precipitation and draped with lush and warming clouds, gilded by the setting sun.  The gorgeous site and romantic ceremony were perfect for Paul’s anniversary surprise to Katherine his bride of thirty years, who couldn’t stop smiling with glowing appreciation for her life-long groom.

Birthday Party to Engagement to Wedding to Reception!

Rick & Piper

When Piper thought it was going to be only her 50th birthday reception little did she know that Rick had planned not only to propose, but to have the wedding right away with all their friends already there.  So, I issued the license as part of the ceremony 10 minutes after Rick surprised her with a proposal.  What an amazing evening and what an amazing couple.

Here they are during their “First Dance” as Husband and Wife.

Rick and Piper

Congratulations Rick and Piper!!!!

Personal Touches for Drew and Phil’s Chapel Wedding

Drew and Phil waited 16 years to get married so when they tied the knot in our chapel in Long Beach on Friday, November 22nd, they wanted to make it memorable.

Here’s what they did –

– They surprised Drew’s sister and they’re long-time family friend by inviting them to the wedding under the premise that it was a work “award lunch” and asked them to sign their marriage licenses

– They had their 4 champagne glasses engraved with their names and wedding date

– They gave both women corsages and Pandora charms to remember their special day

– They had cuff links engraved with D & P engraved for their ceremony attire…

DELIUS RESTAURANT IN LONG BEACH HOSTS SURPRISE COMMITMENT CEREMONY SATURDAY NIGHT!

014
DELIUS RESTAURANT IN LONG BEACH HOSTS SURPRISE COMMITMENT CEREMONY SATURDAY NIGHT!

So you know you want to marry the love of your life, and you know you want it to be a low key, no stress situation!  But you can’t quite figure out when, where or how…  OK then.  How about making it a surprise?

And so it was that this gorgeous bride rallied their inner circle of loved ones; secretly flew some of them in from lands afar; made all the arrangements; and invited her fiance to share a fancy dinner with her at their favorite place!

Oh yea.  And a few weeks prior, she hired Great Officiant Pris Munson to co-create a short & sweet custom ceremony with her that included tender promises, a family vow with their four children, and a personalized telling of their unique love story!

Voila!  Goal accomplished.  Beautifully… and with ease and grace!

Universal timing was in fine display that night, because as Pris was sitting in the lobby waiting for her cue from the bride to enter the private dining room, she and her beloved walked out together… alone.

So in that perfectly orchestrated private moment Pris stood up, and the bride without skipping a beat, greeted her warmly with a hug, and said to her man, “I’d like you to meet my friend Pris.  Do you know what she does for a living?  She’s a wedding officiant!  So what do you think? Shall we do it?  Like, right now?”

To which he replied without skipping a beat, “Well, OK!  Yes, of course!” with a great big smile on his face!

And so, they entered the room; Pris introduced herself and announced what was going to be taking place before dinner (because most of the guests didn’t know either!); everyone cheered; and the 10 minute ceremony began!.

Now that is a night to remember!
