How to Get Copies of Your Marriage License and Change Your Name After You are Married

You Just Got Married…..Now What?

The marriage license is your permission to be married, when you provide it to your Officiant on the day of the wedding (free of any stains or wrinkles); your Officiant will sign and file the license with the county. Your Officiant is required to return the license to the county where it was issued within 10 days of the ceremony.

If you want them mailed to you, you can fill out a request for marriage record form along with a notarized certificate of identity form along with a check to the county for $15 for each copy. These forms are available online at the county’s website.

If one of our notaries issued you the marriage license and the appropriate check was attached to the request forms the county will mail them to you within 8 weeks.

The county will ask you for your marriage license #, this can be found on line 25e of your customer copy if provided. If your county does not provide you with a customer copy. Please make a copy of your marriage license for your records.

If the county needs the officiant and/or the notary to make corrections with a duplicate or amendment, we will do our best to guide thru this process. If there are any other issues we will quickly help you resolve the issue to the best of our abilities.

Roger married an adorable couple this last weekend at the Mission Inn in Riverside

Roger married an adorable couple this last weekend.  They are Harry & Joy and they chose to marry at the Mission Inn in Riverside.  For those of you that are not familiar with this most amazing venue, it started out as a small cottage in 1876….that’s right…..over 140 years old !

Harry & Joy chose the chapel to marry in and it was a good choice, not only for it’s beauty, but everyone could escape the rain that seemed to persist this last weekend.  Overall, a beautiful day !

Congratulations to Siuna Morales & Neevon Esmaili on their November 19, 2016 wedding at the Oak Room at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu, CA

Congratulations to Siuna Morales & Neevon Esmaili on their November 19, 2016 wedding at the Oak Room at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu, CA.  It was a perfect day for a wedding in Malibu and the timing was just around sunset outdoors in front of a beautiful rock waterfall.  It was a traditional ceremony to which they added the “Love Lock Tree.”  Love Lock are a symbol of love and commitment which have been inspired by an ancient custom.  The custom was started in Europe in the early 2000’s where love padlocks were affixed to a fence, gate or bridge to symbolize a couples everlasting love.  In this ceremony, the locks are affixed to a metal Love Lock Tree.  Their parents also affixed their locks in support of the couples intent to marry.  It added a nice dimension to the ceremony!

Great Officiant Greg and the privilege of marrying Bassam and Laura Younes on Saturday November 19th 2016 at the Lake Forest Sun and Sail Club in Lake Forest, California.

What a beautiful location for a wedding and reception!  The weather was absolutely perfect!  The ceremony was held on the water’s edge, with the reception at the clubhouse a short walk away.  The pictures speak for themselves!

Bassam looked so sharp in his blue suit and Laura was just lovely and beautiful in her wedding dress.  The ceremony was a customized “Catholic Lite” with the “Family Sand Ceremony” as an addition.  With their children, this ceremony was very special and heartwarming.

The special ceremony by Great Officiant Greg was very well received by the happy couple’s friends and family.  Bassam’s best friend made a special effort to thank Greg for such a wonderful and sincere, but fun wedding.  “You really nailed it!” he exclaimed!

All of us at Great Officiants wish Bassam, Laura and their children much love and happiness!

Congratulations to Daniella De La Cal & Robert Kelly on their November 12, 2016 wedding at The Ebell Club in Long Beach, CA

Congratulations to Daniella De La Cal & Robert Kelly on their November 12, 2016 wedding at The Ebell Club in Long Beach, CA.  Everything went great – it was a simple ceremony with the couple reciting touching personal vows.  The ceremony was filled with both humor and seriousness (which was sometimes difficult to achieve due to Daniella and Robert’s great personalities and sense of humor).  But we managed to make sure the ceremony had the required doses of seriousness where it needed to be!  My best to the happy couple, who I’m sure are a perfect match for each other!

Rabbi Barry Saves the Day at the Inn at the 7th Ray in Topanga Canyon

816f79a5-6c50-4cff-a23f-636acc3ae776
As I reached for my cell phone, noticing the call was from Alan Katz and Great Officiants, I knew there was a Jewish or Interfaith couple needing a rabbi.  It was Alan but to my surprise, he wanted to know if I was available in five days for the wedding.  I was and took down the information and within 20 minutes fell in love this couple and took away a tremendous amount of stress.
It was at the last minute, their original rabbi took ill and had to bail.  Apparently, he didn’t have a network of rabbis to rely on in such a situation.  It was fortuitous that Juan and Alexia called Great Officiants.  Within minutes, their problem for finding an Interfaith Rabbi was solved.
Alexia and Juan’s venue was, Inn at the 7th Ray in Topanga Canyon.  And as the 20 guests were arriving, I had a chance to meet the family and get a feel that this was a fun loving group.  Being the location, the guests’ love for the couple or any number of idyllic reasons, the ceremony was fun, tender and filled with a message of how to succeed in in marriage in today’s crazy world.
In the ceremony, we combined Mexican Catholic and Jewish Traditions.  Best of all was the Benediction, where the couple was wrapped in a tallit as well as having their godparents place the Lasso around their shoulders at the same time.  Both traditions represent the bond that unites the two of them, Soul.
Over all, no one would have known that I didn’t know them but for a few days.  And that’s the way it should always be.
