A Lovely Ceremony at the Muckenthaler Mansion in Fullerton

20150919_174006_resized
David and Liz’s wedding at the Muckenthaler Mansion in Fullerton was simply lovely.  We scheduled a rehearsal ahead of time, which gave us the opportunity to run through the ceremony and ensure that Liz and David and their entire wedding party (quite a bunch!) knew exactly what to expect the next day. Working with their wedding coordinator Sara was great!

The Muckenthaler Mansion was really beautiful, especially with all of the flowers and wedding decor.  There were different areas for wedding, appetizers and cocktails, and dinner and dancing.

I very much enjoyed getting to know this sweet couple and hearing about their relationship and what brought them to this point.  I was also glad to spend some time getting to know their parents and hearing a little bit more about the Korean culture and unique wedding celebrations.

Blessing to both David and Liz and their families as they begin their new life together as a married couple!

An Intimate Wedding at a Private Home in Pacific Palisades

918 Wed Grp Shot
A beautiful ocean-view home in Pacific Palisades was the setting for the nuptials of Nicole and Paul — With just a few close friends and family members present, the vows were said just as the sun began to disappear in the horizon. Rev. Ralph was blessed to be a part of this lovely occasion.

An Intimate Ceremony at the Descanso Gardens in La Canada-Flintridge

FullSizeRender
Lisa and Dan had a beautiful, intimate ceremony, with about 75 guests in the Boddy House garden at Descanso Gardens in La Canada-Flintridge on September 18th, 215. It’s also so great to stand in front of two people who are so happy to have found each other.  Another cool thing is that Lisa made it her own dress, and you can see from the pictures that she looked gorgeous!

The Theme of The Wedding: “A Voyage to the Great Attractor”

IMG_0877
Alan Dressler, Author of Voyage to the Great Attractor.  Along with other top scientist, they began the project of mapping the Universe, as we know it today with the Hubble Telescope.  Alan is also on the team that is building the world’s largest telescope, which will take astronomy to the next level.

The Great Attractor was at work when Alan met Charmeen.  Their mutual love of Art, Music, Poetry and nature made a permanent connection to soul.

The ceremony included a blend of Jewish and Chinese traditions.  My three favorites were the Tea Ceremony, presented to the only parent, Charmeen’s Mother.  The other notable event was at the end when, traditionally, I wrap the couple with a Tallit for the Benediction, they selected a beautiful Red Shall to wrap the two of them in.  Afterward, all the guests will sign the Stoll for their keepsake.  The breaking of the glass was also impacting. Alan had from his Mothers possessions, a set of 8 Antique Orrifores Crystal glasses.  One of these treasures was what they used for the breaking of the glass.  It demonstrated that even the most valuable material possessions, pale in comparison to the love that is celebrated in this moment.

One more thing, I was able to surprise the groom by using the title of his book as the theme of the wedding, “A Voyage to the Great Attractor”.

Reading from the Velveteen Rabbit highlites the Wedding Ceremony at Verandas in Manhattan Beach

Lauren and Alex exchanged vows today at Verandas in Manhattan Beach. I love this venue. It is clean and different and it makes for a great wedding.

During the wedding each one of their wedding party did a reading. For me a highlight was when they read a selection from the book the velveteen rabbit.
Into the ceremony I incorporated their love story from when they met on OkCupid to all the adventures they have had leading up to today. I made it light and fun and really captured the essence of their life together.

I love doing ceremonies like this as it smashes the normal mold of things and create something different. The smiles and the compliments after the wedding told the story of the reaction from the guests. I wish them a wonderful happy life together.

Roger married a wonderful couple Ed and Jillian this last weekend at one of his favorite places, the Portofino Hotel in Redondo Beach.  Always a favorite of his because of the view, the ocean breeze, the arguing seals and an overall great place to tie the knot !  Plus, Roger had many compliments from the guests on how much fun the wedding was !  A picture perfect wedding !

A Hawaiian Style Ceremony at the David Baker Golf Course in Fountain Valley

IMG_20150919_173954301
I may only do Hawaiian / beach weddings from now on. The Aloha Spirit was strong at the David Baker golf course in Fountain Valley. Guests cheered and sounded off loudly , and a conch shell was sounded to the four directions as the groom, Gene Ahlo, waited anxiously for his bride, DeEtte Lucero. She arrived, radiant in white, and they exchanged Leis with parents. I sprinkled Hawaiian words and phrases through the ceremony to honor the heritage of both families, including part of the vows.  All were thrilled at the kiss and final Alooooooo-ha!
